    How Long????

    Hi all

Please could someone let me know:

How long does it take to hear back from the medical board once you have sent off your medical form?

Also how long after you have heard back from the medical board do you attend the ADSC.

Getting very excited now - cant wait.

    Any help would be great..

    Thank you

Anything up to a 6 weeks, although if you haven't heard anything after a month phone the GP.

Re: All medical chat & queries in here please.

I think it varies. It can take anything upto 6 weeks I have heard said on this forum. Mine was only a week.

It depends on how soon your GP sends them off aswell, because you may be thinking the medical board are taking long. When they might not even have been sent off.

How soon after depends on your ACIO and if they want to put you forward for selection. They might want to know you are at a good level of fitness, or have your run time down to a certain time.

Just have a chat with your recruiter and ask him.

Re: All medical chat & queries in here please.

Hello. I'm 23 and would like to join the army but (and there is generaly a but) i have had, and am still seeing a doctor about, mental health problems. The thing is i've been told i have one thing or another and at least one problem has been misdiagnosed. It turns out my "tactile hallucinations" were actually a medical problem and not mental. I have suffered depression and was having a psychotic episode for about 5 years but i'm an outpatient with the clinic and feel like i need to get back into the "real" world. I have no job, lacking much experience and few qualifications.

My question is would it be possible to join the regular army with my current record of mental health and would i still be able to recieve any needed treatment if i was to get in?

The only drug i take is be Arapiprazole an antipsychotic.

    Thanks.

    Just serious answers please.

Peavey, I dont think you'll be able to get a definate answer on here with regards to your medical history.

Best thing to do would be to just pop down to your local AFCO and speak to someone...that's what they're there for?!

Could someone please give me a timeline of how long it would take to successfully appeal against a medical decision please?

How long would the appeals process generally take?

    Thanks.

Almost impossible to say as each case is different. I've known one case that was turned around in a day and others that require a candidate to wait for anything up to four years - depending on the condition.

Re: All medical chat & queries in here please.

It's due to migraines. I used to get them because of bad lifestyle etc and the last one i had was december last year.

Someone else on here had migraines 4 months ago and had been to specialists about them, and got passed on the medical; yet i get deferred and i've never even been to the GP about them.

If i use that as a backing to my appeal, i should be successful in overturning the decision. Also, if i have to goto a specialist to confirm that i'm fine, then i will do so.
