Re: ADSC Chat & Queries
Just finished lichfield ADSC so thought i'd throw a bone to anyone going in the near future.
Arrive smartly dressed. you dont have to wear a suit but if you look scruffy the corporals dont mind telling you. then a very brief drill lesson. then straight to scoff for food. you get about 9 minutes to eat so be quick. then you have the medical which is boring as fcuk. sitting around waiting for everyone to be finished till its your turn whilst watching a dvd on adsc which plays on loop untill its your turn. then hearing test. eye test lung test. doctors medical then either cleared or defered or failed. think about 4 guys got defered for heart murmur an 1 for protein deficiency an another failed eye test. then u go get changed. you have about 4mins. into PT kit. do the gym tests. heaves, static lift. dynamic lift. and jerry can. its all best effort but if u dont do the jerry cans to the required distance then you may not get your first job choice. then into the cinema for icebreaker. if you know all about your first choice job. inside and out then this is a complete doddle. on ours. some of the less confident guys froze up and so the corporals just asked questions. and if u cant answer direct easy questions then you are in the wrong place. then you watch a shitty 30 min video on phase one which, if you have done your research will tell you nothing you dont already know. then you have a simple grenade lesson. listen and you will be fine. your divided into sections. about 8 men to a section. all men by the way. no girls on adsc like in the dvd. think they do it seperatly. anyway, PT session. the corporal will say if you give me 100% effort he will make it a 30 min session. but if he sees someone slacking then he's happy to beast us all night long. BELIEVE HIM! our session was 45 mins because we had a few mouthy cnuts that loved to talk when all ranked up waiting for the corporals. then you have about 45 minutes in the naffi/hub to chat to ur mum dad boyfriend girlfriend wife kids. all that jazz. after that u get ur bed kit and told how to fold it all properly and then your told that its only cleaned once a month and used by 200 people a week. nice. room inspection at 0540 before morning scoff. then he says were a bunch of smelly cnuts so fcuk of for a shower. my advice. be quick for a shower. there is water for about 30 men. an there probably about 60 of you on selection. so be sharpish. get to know your section because it will help dividends in the team tasks. if you know the sort of man your speaking to then he's more likely to respond to the way you talk to him. a good team bonding section will win most team tasks. so dont be a silent spanner! then go to fcuking sleep. you will need it. day 2 is easy. you have scoff. the grenade lesson, the run which is a very easy route, the team tasks final interview and your off home. i know it sounds very cliche but if you give 100% you will pass. dont be seen to be saving yourself. as far as they are concerned its all about selection. when it comes to the corporals, just swallow it. they may fcuk with you but if you take it on the chin you will be the better man for it and they know that. they will beast you for being too slow. if you are too quick they will beast you just to pass the time. if you are wrong then you are wrong. if you are right then you are wrong. do not lie about you run time. a guy said he could do it in 6.40 and when we ran everyone wanted to see this flash gordon run his time. he did it in 11.40 and to say he felt like a little prick is a huge understatement. bottom line. just keep your head down and do everythin to your best and you will pass. and make sure you know the job you want to apply for.

Re: ADSC Chat & Queries
Nice round up there younghopeful, very vivid of my ADSC! What regiments were your Cpl's from, I have a sneaky suspicion they were the same ones we had. I can also agree with the PT session at the end of day 1, we were good little recruits and only got around a 20 minute session which was quiet fun. Ahh the gobby ones, few got defferred on our course for that sole reason.
You are going for int as well arnt you, younghopeful? Well done btw mate.Only Idiots quote themselves. - Theralas

Re: ADSC Chat & Queries
Passed ADSC today. TST was tough, I needed 35/55 to pass as a Comms system engineer, and I got 38/55. So wasn't far off. I'd recommend not spending too much time on the beginning questions because time soon flies.
Jerry cans were a lot harder than when I did them at pre-selection too. Only just managed the full 150m, but then I didn't grip the best.
