I have selection next week(the 14th) and I came down with the flu 3 days ago. I've been trying to shift it but Im not sure if I'm getting better fast enough. Should I just turn up sick anyway? I don't want my strength to suffer and for me to fail just because I have the sniffles

They won't fail you if you give 100% in everything, If you tell them you have flu or are recovering they will take it into account aswell.
I hope not, I couldn't believe it,of all the times to catch the damn thing. It must be around 2 years since I was sick last. I know I'm gonna give it my all,I refuse to fail at this point, just hope they dont mind if I throw up a bit.I'm gonna try for a personal best, why not.

Thanks for all the votes of confidence lads,to me it's just another example of the camaraderie we're all hoping to build on

Gave it a go out of interest 9:45, including tripping over a horrible yappy dog. Was >12 mins 2 months ago.

What routine did you do to crack it down to 9:45?

the one where you shit your pants and vomit down your own shirt before crossing the finish line! Sprints can do wonders for you fitness, for stretching it that little bit further than usual like!im gonna go run now i reckon!

Just started excercising really, packed in drinking & smoking , bought a bike etc. Got the worst of the butter out my lungs now it seems. 2 days on 1 day off doing a 2.5 miles with a walk/jog home. 100(ish) m sprints up a nice steep hill added in the day before a rest. Still needs alot of work though , cant keep up max effort for as long as I'd like. The bike really helps when running gets dull or the weather is pish.

    edited for being thick

My flu still hasn't kicked it, my chest feels in an awful state. If I cough a little bit its quite sore and doesn't feel right :/

Went for a run there, did a mile lively enough(around 7:00ish) and breathing was good. Then did 2 laps to warm back up and attempted the run. Was going ok but when I sped up on the 6th lap(need 7 and a bit for a mile and a half) I coughed a little and breathing went into disarray. I have a feeling that I'm going to have to do my best not to cough or splutter at all otherwise I may start a small convulsion and throw myself way off. Of all the fcuking times to get sick,I can't believe it...

Ran the lot in 11:08.. :( I'm going for RAC.
