Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
Is it wise to trust the fitness counter on my Sony erricsson? Ive passed selection with a time of 11.26 and im still running as much as ever with 3mile jogs through the week, when i use this to time my 1.5 it comes up with some crazy times..... for example today it says i did 1.1miles in 12 minutes...????WTF cant be getting worse surely.

Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
Well how long does it take you to run 3 miles? Maybe you're running with a slower pace because it's a longer distance?

Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
Ran a 10:40 today, pretty pissed off. Full of a cold and I didn't think it would effect me but it really did, had a hard time keeping my breathing steady after the first mile, and was starting to lose my breathing rhythm by the end. Was pissing it down as well (end of our good weather ey lads..). It's really bugging me since im going para, im getting plenty of bed rest and getting back out tomorrow to sort that shit out. lemsips for now.

Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
I usually do 1.5mile run once a week just to keep track of my time, i didnt seem to be running at a slower pace, seemed as normal as ever. About a month ago it was saying i ran it in 10.20........... Which ive never been able to do, must be dodgy.

i wouldnt trust them, i also have used one after mapping my run and it only said i had run 1.1miles, better to use map my run and get a watch and time yourself with that.

Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
meshell dont trust Sony ericsson . go on google maps and map out your run and take a normal stopwatch or do it on your phone (jus tthe stopwatch dont use tha fitness thing lol) and then youll see your accurate time

9.03 - stoked considering im in the tropics and this body of mine was never designed to be active for longer than 30 second bursts.

Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
I did a look at life course this weekend and was really surprised when I came in at 10.14 on the 1.5 mile run, I was gutted. For weeks I have been running below 9.30 I just can't understand what happened on the day. I think it may have had something to do with the whole warm up and excersizes we had done all in 24 hours of eachother. Firstly we did the bleep test at 9pm on friday night, we then got up at 7am the following morning and went to do the BFT. A ten minute warm up jogging round the sports hall doing stretches and changing direction etc.... Then straight onto pressups, situps and pullups which I again failed to produce my best on
. Then straight out to do the 1.5 mile run. Infact it was more like a 3 mile run we did a 1.5 mile warm up, and I wouldn't have called it a warm up it was more of a steady jog over hills etc which really did shock me. Then straight into the 1.5 mile run running against the wind. It was an absolute killer to be honest and I was really gutted with my results. I don't know if I got stage fright and I just wasn't used to running and warming up to that intesity and also running against competition. It certainly didnt gain me any seconds. All the lads said how hard it was. Before it I asked alot of the lads what their times were and alot said 8.30. In the end only 2 people got under 9minutes and they had said they were used to getting under 8! The rest off us were all baffled as we had all ran at least 40 seconds over our normal times. Also on the pressups I was marking a would be officer who has already passed his officer selection course "supposibly" (could be a walt?), who to be honest was a cheating cnut and only fooling himself, we were told to clench our fists below the candidates chest and not to mark it if he didnt meet the fist with his chest on every rep. This cnut was nowear near my fist and I kept mentioning this to him with no evail. In the end I ended up giving him 62 but in reality he met my fist all off 30 times(this after me telling him you aint doing it right). What made it worse was the fact that one of the PTi's(fu@king nails and a top all round bloke as were all the PTi's) looking over us caught me trying to help him out by raising my hand to his chest a few times(bad move)->(what the fu@ck are you doin you doing!?!, what did I say about honesty!) In the end we all got beasted on a regular occasion. I enjoyed the look of life infact it has made more hungry to succeed and join up. I'm missing the place now. I'm going to work alot harder on my phys and then do the same course and hopefully pass and thewn go for selection.

Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
Woke up today and my achilles tendon, feels a bit painful, everytime i walk, I do not understand why as I havnt done any running recently and I have not knocked it or anything. Bit miffed as I wanted ot start building my phys back up now. Just wondering what I can do to speed up the process of healing it.
Speaking to a few people and they told me do not run under any circumstance with something like this, cause if i mess up my tendon ill be out the game for a long time, so any advice?
Also 007m88 at my pre-selection course I used to get crap run times as I wasnt used to doing sit-ups/press-ups/heaves before a run. Once I got used to it by doing the press-ups and sit-ups before my BE 1.5 m in training. I should point out that at my selection we had some scoff in the morning, let it settle then off for the run. We did more than an 800m warm-up as we ran a whole lap to make sure we knew the route. Only thing that my hinder you is the gym session before, but as someone had locked the gym and we were good boys, the PTI didnt beast us that hard. Good luck mate and keep training!Only Idiots quote themselves. - Theralas
