Upper body strength is usefull, but fitness more so. Create yourself a circuit (Benchpress, pushup, squats...) and go round it 4 times or something. Ideal weights are a weight you can comfortably do 12 reps of, then do 20!
Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
Don't i know it! Bodybuilding gives you no stamina at all. Probably why i felt as if i was having a coronary today!
This Para Regiment weekend course will be good for me too. I will train for the next three weeks and then that course will keep me on track, as well as get me involved in military tasks etc.
I couldn't believe it was free when i read it. Train ticket, accommodation and food all free. They really must be despirate to get new recruits in.
** If any one has any Spare Webbing for a cadet in the ATC please PM me, badly need some for Easter Camp and Junior Leaders Course. Will pay Up if needed just not too much please**
Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
Well lads and ladettes..........I finally got around to running the 1.5 mile route I do again today.
Am I the only one that get's strangely nervous before timing my runs? I think it's because I know how much it hurts and a fear of failing to beat my PB?
I had high expectations of myself today but maybe expected too much too soon?
I first timed my 1.5 mile run on 3rd April with a time 11 mins 20 secs then again on 5th April @ 10 mins 52 secs on the 7th April I did 10 mins 41 secs. Then the last run on 13th April was 10 mins 34 secs.
Today I did 10 mins 20 secs. I was slightly disappointed considering how hard I felt I worked and the whole way around felt I was running hard enough to get sub 10 mins. A minute in under a month off my time isn't that bad after all!?
I suppose I'm happy with my progress and my fitness level to start basic, after all 2 months ago I'd not have even finished the run.
Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
Nope, your not the only one who gets nervous before a run, I always feel like someone has put me on a adrenalin drip before a solo run or a competitive run.
My best ever time is 8:34, need to get pre 8:15 times now, so will be timing myself at the weekend.
