I've just dropped from 12 mins to 10.50 :D I think it was cycling that did it with my mountain bike
well heres my routine:
Day one: 1.5 mile best effort or 2 miles with boots, followed by fast cycle for 5 miles
Day two: Steady cycle 5 miles
Back to day one

Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
my best run at my home route is 9.55, i was really happy with this as abot a quarter of it is up hill, when on the insight day on tuesday i managed a 9.34, probably with a mix of adrenaline, wanting it loads and my training up hill, so defo reccommend training on a hill

Parks can be really good for that you can alternate between a long steady uphill route or a quick, steep hill. Good luck all with selection.

Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
I cannot put this any other way, I am 45 this year and my PFT fluctuates between 10 and 11 mins and I am 16.5 stone, I think the times for the young ones is awful.
Lads get a grip especially thos infantry fitness is one of our most important elements, for those wanting to go into the Paras I think you will find you need a PFT pass time of 8:30 mins.

Re: Be Honest.......what's your 1.5 mile run time?
Its 9.40 mate to go Para Regt, if you cant lift a certain weight on a static lift its 9.18. But to be fair alot of times are poor, i have just started training again after 4 weeks on the lash and went for a nice easy jog, looked at my watch when i got to the 1.5 mile mark and it was 11 minutes. Alot of lads think just because they have football a couple times a week your good to go but thats not the case.

I no its hard to motivate yourself to go out running sometimes, but you feel great after and it will pay off. Good Luck to any lads going to selection.

Goody, you miss the point, these are young kids, your a trained soldier. Big difference chap, I'm sure once they get through and into a field unit they will continue to get stronger

This thread lets them see how they fit in with their peers.

I understand what you are trying to do by running in boots, but I would seriously consider not doing that at all.

Ditch the boots, and concentrate on training well and safe to avoid injuries.
