I find it hard to breathe at fast pace running, long distance I can go forever.
Is there a recommended way to breathe when running?
Sounds bleeding obvious, but huge deep breathes, in thru the nose, out thru the mouth. Slower and deeper the better.

It sounds like you're not doing either enough Fartlek training to increase stamina or concentrating on long distance rather than short snappier runs.
Generally (and this is generally) you'll not run much over 6-7 miles, but you'll be expected to run faster over shorter distances (4-5 miles) with stops for press-up's, sit-up's , etc, and the occasional piggy-back race, firemans carry relay, and the obligatory 'Run-and-touch-that-tree-and-back-again' with the even more obligatory shout of 'Not quick enough, do it again' repeated several times.

Long distance trg is good, it'll bring on your overall fitness/stamina, but you'll be increasingly expected to give 100% on short powerful bursts of effort, intermixed with plodding along in-between.

I've got Phase 1 in about 11 weeks, started hitting the training properly now (upped from before) but I've just picked up a shitty cold (in the sun?!).

Trying to continue fitness routines whilst ill isn't beneficial at all, is it? Should I just wait until it clears off?

I'd leave it until you feel a bit better, I had a heavy cold not too long ago and kept on running and it was murder, got barely a mile before coughing up green stuff and the chills were worse. Just how I got on you might be different

Ha those tree touching sounds very familiar, I already do alot of training with a phase 2 PTI

Thanks for that, I think I'll have to give a strict fartlek training programme ago and hopefully see some improvement.

There is no set amount for heaves, it's just best effort. I didn't do sit ups at my Pre ADSC, you don't get tested on them at ADSC either. However you'll need to be able to do them for the PT session.
ADSC: Passed with B grade (23/24 May 2012)
Chosen job: RAC Crewman (Royal Dragoon Guards)
Start date: 7th October - ATR Winchester

    Currently at ATR Winchester
