Thanks for the advice. I have spoke to a number of people inclueding doctor and physio and it could be a number of things. Maybe a nerve problem in my back or foot or my running technique or even compartment syndrome or something! I will really need to see a pediatrist or physio but am wondering what if I still have the problem when I get a start date as I wouldn't want to pospone.*
With regards to insoles, the physio said that the shoes I have are one of the most supprtive and are only a few weeks old so they wouldn't make much difference.
Any advice?
Cheers

Is it you are just not used to running? When I did my first mile and a half I passed, but only just.
Now as a 35 year old I still run a lazy 9.34. It's one of them things your body just learns to do. I'm sure yours will too, just teach it

gym time in training???
hey guys, just wondering if anyone thats gone through basic can tell me roughly how long after you start is it untill you can get in the gym again in your free time?
im really into weights/bodybuilding and obviously this has got to take a step back for now (ive ditched the weights and upped cardio the past 3 months), but im keen to get back into gym training asap?
my friend in the infantry told me he got to use the gym again after 6 weeks, but said it might be different for me as im going RE?

Free time in training? Are yo mad? Or have things changed so much ?
We were run ragged for 19 - 20 hrs a day!Every man thinks meanly of himself for not having been a soldier......Life of Johnson, Volume 3 1776-1780.

ATR Bassingbourn - British Army Website
are they just sugar coating what its actually going to be like? this video shows bassingbourn with good gym facilities and was posted on the armys facebook page for people who are doing phase 1 at ATR(B) to watch?

I'd have thought that you wouldn't have the time at all during phase 1. And if your training is up to scratch, you won't want to either! Doing some weights will be the last thing on your mind during any free time you may get during phase 1.
Phase 2 however, you can use the gym anytime you want in your free time, depending on the gym opening hours.
