The garlic suggestion on the chart is bollocks though as you would have to eat ridiculous amounts and stink of the stuff for a tiny result.

The 24 hr monitor will give an average and it goes really low when you are asleep. Wait and see and stop stressing please.

I have White coat syndrome. It's in my notes with my cardiologist (past history of paroxysmal AF, probably hereditary, now ablated) and my GP.
But every couple of years he takes the pressure, finds it's in 150/90, a few minutes later 140, 80, a few minutes after that 135/80. So he packs me off to the clinic for a 24hr monitor, and they are the huge clunky ones that need a small 'satchel' to carry and wakes me up every two hours. Comes back with an average of 130/80.
I'm 46, slightly overweight, non smoker, moderate drinker, moderate excercise (could do more tbph)
I've been in the upper normal range most of my adult life, actually.

I too have a problem with having my blood pressure checked. I've reached an agreement with my GP, I bought my own monitor, self-test every few months and send her the results. We're both happy...
