@Nato, not quite sure what you're getting at with highlighting that, an unfortunate choice of words perhaps, but it's not like i was suggesting do something different because you might get killed.
FFS, It's called squaddie humour mate....should have signed for it when you first got issued your kit or your first bollocking for just being there.

it's more down to what job you want and how much in demand there in for that postion to be filled. When i went in the navy about 18months to get in and the job sucked so much i left i was totaly gutted.
i loved the dartmoore out side stuff the weapon training and anything pyshical hence why the army is the job for me :D.
but waiting a year will suck i started my sign up in january lets see how long it takes.

Youve gone for a medical combat tech mate, your bound to be waiting a while, its a very-subscribed job which demands high grades, all the best to you on that one though mate, should be proud of yourself

I started my application in April last year and I start basic in July this year so in total it will be 16 months. I would have been in sooner but when I went to ADSC at the end of September I was deferred on the medical. Fortunately, they let me continue with ADSC which meant that once the issue had been resolved I didn't need to return to ADSC.

Anyway, I ended up needing a minor operation which I had 3 days before Christmas and had to wait to recover. I then had to get my GP to send a letter back to the Medical Officers at ADSC declaring me fit and well again. Once they received and processed this I finally got my pass at ADSC and put on the waiting list for a job.

As I said, had I of passed ADSC whilst I was there, I would have probably be starting in the next few weeks, if not already at Phase 1.
