I know what you mean. Just because I mentioned one thing during my ADSC medical I've been deferred for 3 months - even though I know there's nothing wrong with me. I got a high A grade and this is three months extra wait that I just don't need! I'm not impatient i'm just so EAGER to start!

What do they ask you in medical? I don't have anything wrong with me but I sprained my ankle when I was 17 lol (I'm now 19) guess its lucky all my citizenship stuff got sorted before I applied. That'd been a minefield...

My most memorable moment is when I saw a French soldier from the Troupes De Marine get a beasting from an instructor at ITC Catterick. Hilarious

My advice - You feel physically and mentally fit and able. Let the doctor know that.

Don't tell them useless info, sprains and pulled muscles aren't important unless its a repetitive injury in the same area, unless you had to go to the Doc for something I would just keep it quiet. The Doctor will guide you with his/her questions so don't worry chap.
The fact that you're here and asking questions/willing to learn puts you leaps and bounds ahead of the mouth-breathing idiots you'll be alongside.
Plus in the time that you're waiting you can prepare yourself so much that you get an A Grade...spaces are tight in all trades at the moment so this time you have now to prepare could make up the difference to getting a job at all! Best of luck.

Thanks buddy. I came all the way from Zimbabwe for this so I need to nail it! My main worry is the team task really, I'm not great at giving decent input. I'm no shrinking violet though. Well I'm lucky enough to be healthy and haven't ever even broke a bone or been ill, worse I've had is swine flu and chickenpox, and I'm fit.

I was worried about Team Tasks too mate, trick is to listen as much as you shout/talk, if you get some nob who just constantly tries to override the group the Cpl will tell him to STFU. All of my team got very good marks on the team tasks because not only did we all take part but we encouraged others to speak and gave them the opportunity to say their bit. If you notice somebody being a bit quiet whilst you guys formulate the plan (3mins huddle) then ask them to recap what we're doing, the Cpls and Officers are sharp they can spot a team player.
During the tasks it's important that you put in a lot of physical effort, the tasks (if at Lichfield) can be quite demanding since you are moving long, heavy wet wood - sometimes on your own. If you aren't holding something with two hands and have steady footing then put your hand out to your mate, help him cross the beam, it may be slippery or he/she may be nervous. Shouting 'come on' to spur on your team mates when there is nothing to do (ie: you've finished the course first) is better than standing there looking sad. If there are two of you on a platform, slap the other guy's back and tell him LOUD and CLEAR that he is going across first, that way you don't waste seconds deciding who is going.
We won all 3 team tasks even with the 2 young thin guys we had who were obviously nervous, crack a joke and work as a team, congratulate yourselves and tell each other well done if you win against the other team.

Ok so I do selection in may, say I pass with an A or B, is there any chance I'll be in this year? Really didn't want winter basic, especially coming from Africa lol. But hey I'll take it no questions asked!!!

I'd imagine with a B you'll be looking at a year, you really don't want a B if you're going for a trade. Treat it like this - If you don't get an A, you ain't joining the army. Recipe for success.
