Yes I did. Not many people can claim that, hahaha.

Part of my icebreaker was about that time I attacked an elephant whilst blitzed when I was working in Zambia...

I've got IDST tomorrow and I've jsut got the new Icebreaker today! :L
Hi all,
Basically I've got IDST tomorrow, I popped down to the AFCO earlier to double check my Icebreaker was ok, and they told me it's been updated and gave me the new one. Basically the new one isn't much idfferent and has 4 parts. A) personal details B) topic (5 different topics they chose which one you read out) C) reasons for joining and D) first job choice.
Now I've learnt everything for B and C it's just A and D I'm stuck on. Basically all's I have for A is my name, age and where I live... if you could think of anything appropriate to fill in this area I'd be really thankyou! also I've learnt everythign for my first job choice (the Paras) so there training, how long for etc so is that all I need to say? 30 weeks training at ITC catterick, ten on to pegasis company then after that parachute training (obviously I'll make it last)? I know sometimes you all have a laugh on here but I really need your help now if that's ok
Thankyou

I moved it as this is where it should be, read the stickies! We don't need 100 individual threads on the same subject.

New Icebreaker:
The format of the Icebreaker at ADSC is being changed. Candidates will now be given five topics prior to attending selection. When they arrive at ADSC Candidates will be given one topic and will have time to prepare whilst they are waiting for their medical. This new format will start at all ADSCs on Monday 13th Feb 2012.
The 5 topics are:
a. Favourite film or TV programme b. The candidate’s favourite hobby or sport c. The candidate’s best holiday d. The candidate’s best day e. The candidate’s current job / best subject at school
Each topic will have pointers to help candidate to speak for up to 1 minute 30 seconds.
Favourite film or TV Programme.
a. What is it? b. Why is it your favourite? c. Who is the best character? d. When did you see it? e. How did you see it i.e. cinema?
Favourite hobby or sport.
a. What is it? b. Where do you do it? c. Does it cost much? d. Who do you do it with? e. How long have you been doing it? f. How often do you do it? g. How high up do you think you can get i.e. play for school, county?
Best holiday - this can be a holiday away or time spent at home during school / work holidays.
a. Where was it? b. When was it? c. What did you do? d. What were the best bits? e. Who were you with? f. What was the food like?

The pointers should help the candidate to prepare for the icebreaker, but will also provide prompts for the NCOs should the candidates struggle.

You didn't have to learn anything you muppet? You're talking about your favourite things and your job etc... The ice breaker should never be something which is able to be rehearsed, it should put you on the spot and see how you cope with a little bit of pressure and how you can think on the spot. Any old fool can pre-plan a speech on themselves.
