Yeah see where your coming from but, people join the Guards expecting to do ceremonial duties and are pretty much garanteed to do it where as not everyone in line regiments etc will have the chance to do it.

Any guards regiment is a good choice its really the only infantry role you will get with a variety of things to do the main difference is after basic you go to cerimonial for 6 months, for example scot's guards you go straight to F company which is 6 months cerimonial before you join the rest of the regiment plus scots is armoured infantry.

other than that its pretty much the same as line infantry mate to be honest.

when you go to your briefing before you start phase 1 do you get a timetable to show you what sort of things your going to be doing in the first week or so, or is the whole thing just spontainious & they say right gear up its a overnight exercise

You will have a weekly programme that should be posted up on a notice board in the lines somewere.

going to catterick next week..ive been waiting over a year to get in with a b grade and its finally happenin....joining royal irish regiment..faugh a ballagh..anyone else going?
