    .
Why don't they wear their own cap badge like D Sqn HCR do on the Maroon Beret?
We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.

woah, thanks alot guys uselful stuff, hope i wont have to wait 6 months but by the sounds of it looks like ill be needing a job in the meantime!
sad to hear binning the guards para platoon, this was what swung me to choose guards as first choice (before i had paras as first choice). I know it wont be the same, but if they get rid of the platoon can you still do p company and be para trained?
I really want to be part of the guards, but i think joining the scots just to get in earlier would be a step to far as i wouldnt understand a word!

Yes but P -Coy places are hard to come by these days if you’re not going onto a unit that requires you to be Airborne trained (i.e. 16AAB) You'll find it hard graft to get onto a course if there was no longer a Guards Plt in 3Para.

I really want to be part of the guards, but i think joining the scots just to get in earlier would be a step to far as i wouldnt understand a word!
If you really want to be a Gren Guardsman that much then I’d recommend you hold fast until a space opens up for you. You want to insure you get your choice of unit right first time, considering it will be your "tribe" for the rest of your days.
If the Guards Plt do get binned then there is always the option of attempting P-Coy and carrying out "extra training “before going onto serving with 1Para SFSG (classed as an attachment to Para Reg) or there’s always the Pathfinder selection to have a crack at if your that way inclined. So the end of the Guards Para Plt isn't necessarily the end of your chances of serving with Para Reg.

BUT, If you do come to your senses :D and realize the terrible mistake your making and want to know more about Para Reg then I’d recommend doing the Para Reg insight course in Colly (if you haven't already done so). Have a look on the Para Reg website or send me a PM for dates/details.

still going strong so i'm led to believe ?
