Re: FITNESS Qs & ADSC 1.5 mile run times- READ BEFORE ASKING
the grades are based on your entire app start to finish from what fivetodo has told us, i have no idea on the points system but its gotta be based around: Attitude, trainability, appreance, intelligence, ability to do as your told on ADSC, team work and leadership skills, only a shot in the dark but its a pretty good guess i reckon :D
Excuses are like Arseholes: Everybodys got one!
No, I thought I'd balance my goods on my head, yes i'd like a fcuking bag.

As to grades. I dont know but as im going adsc tomorrow i have been scrounging for info. Iv read posts from chaps who got 11.15 run and 2 heaves yet got Grade B. Apparently fivetodo has said that the grades are unique to your chosen job. EG...A grade A for RAMC isnt same as A for INF

Do you know if it's up to 13:15 mins for women joining the RA?
Or is it the same for everyone?

Don't think the time change between men and women they only change for junior entry. I think.

Officially its 13min 15sec, however as mentioned it you should be a lot faster. I was told that anything under 11min30sec is what you should be aiming for. But your run time looks good so no worries there.

Women usally have a longer time limit for the 1.5 mile run. But to be safe aim to 10.30 or under before you get to selection

Re: FITNESS Qs & ADSC 1.5 mile run times- READ BEFORE ASKING
I've been told by my recruiter that the best way to knock down minutes in the 1.5 mile run is to run it several times during the week. Is this true? Answer that I'm basically looking for is whether it works or not, because I've started to do this.
Thanks in advance.

Are you asking if practicing running, improves running time?

Not exactly, what I'm asking is that If I keep running the 1.5 mile daily, will I gradually improve and say, run it under 9 or 10 minutes, or should I do another method. It might seem a daft question but I've read numerous times through this forum that you shouldn't prepare the 1.5 run by running it constantly - if that makes sense, and that you should stick to Interval training or running 2 to 3 miles.

Re: FITNESS Qs & ADSC 1.5 mile run times- READ BEFORE ASKING
cardio work is the best to start off with m8. im saying this in my own experience, however everyones body and fitness is different. what iv been doing in the gym is...30 mins weights, 1.5 mile best effort on the treadmill with different inclines ranging from 1.0 to 7.0. then weights again for 30 mins. onto the bike for 30 mins cardio then back on the treadmill for 30 mins cardio, then weights for 10 mins. iv been doing this for the last week without giving my body a rest with days between for the last 7 days. iv knocked my run down from 11.45 to 10.30 in a week. ill keep doing this till sunday, then give my body a rest as im away to adsc on wednesday. but im expecting my runtime to be about 10 mins by then as my body has rested for 2 days and the sheer determination ill have on the day along with adrenyln. as i say this is working for me. dont just do 1.5 mile, train your body to cope with 3 miles no prob. oh and always try and keep your heart rate at 180 good luck fella
