Im going lichfield matey, no drama just keep out of the brawls the army can aford to be picky nowadays and muhammed im fecking hard bruce lee attitude might not cut it chap. But no press up or sit up test at selection mate.

How is everybody doing their situps by the way? like is everyone using something to keep their feet from moving or just doing them with no support etc.?

If any of you are having trouble with your sit ups, it has been scientifically proven that a crunch sit up is far better for your abs than a normal sit up. With a normal sit up (the type the army do on their bft/pft whatever the hell it is called these days) your legs can take some strain so you don't get full abdominal movement but if your doing crunches, your whole stomach is working and as your not pulling with your legs, it is much better for you.
Start cross legged, calves parallel to the ground and shoulders flat, move by lifting your upper body towards your knees at the same time pulling your knees towards your chest hold this position for a second then retract. Hurts much more than a 'normal' sit up but works so much better.
Try doing 3 sets of 20 or so or pyramid training with a small rest gap between each set (10-20 seconds) ie 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 This improves speed and helps your recovery time shorten.
Once you have these cracked and can go at a fair old pace, introduce a twisting element, so when your up, your left elbow goes to the inside of your right knee and visa versa. Enjoy

I'm loving my chinning bar, can do 10 full arm extension pull ups (i know it's shite but i am 13.5 stone), also i got some push up bars with it and i was wondering do they make push ups easier or harder seeing as you are going lower?

He has the mental age of a 4 year old but the sex drive of a 17 year old. All he does with his time is masturbate over DVDs of the teletubbies...

Wasn't too sure on this one but I have a female mate who's thinking about joining.
Is there anyway difference in 1.5mile run times for females and anyone know whats the overall requirements for a pass on selection regarding females.

So I just tried my first timed push-ups test. I managed 50 in the 2 minutes. First 20 were easy, then 10 more, another 10, then by the end I could only manage 5, 3, then 2 with good form before the time was up. I imagine you're allowed to take a few second breaks in the time limit, but does it have to be a certain way? Like, you're not allowed to rest on your knees or am I imagining this is too strict? xD It's times like these where I'd feel better off not being 6ft2!

yeah you can take breaks on ur knees mate, 50 is ok id recommend you bang out as many as you can every morning u will see a massive improvement. Goodluck

Hi all.
Currently in the process of improving my run time for my AOSB in february, so I have a while yet.
However, my run time doesn't seem to be improving too much. The one I did last Tuesday was 9:56, albeit that was a best effort run and I was knackered by the end of it :D At a normal decent pace I manage around the 10:10 to 10:25 mark but even after another best effort (9:5
I can't seem to be able to get it under 9:56. I needed to get it under 10:30 before February but as i've already done that, my target before feb is to down it by another minute, to roughly manage 8:50.
Any tips? :D
