You should try a lot harder to get your BFT {yes BFT that's the old money name for it}time down as low as you can. I'm 42 on 27th of this month and now just TA, and I still finish between 8.35 and 8.40 with a fcuked back, dodgy knees and ankles. But then when I went through Para at the real depot in Aldershot you pushed through and passed or got binned, not pampered through because no one is allowed to have their feelings hurt by being labelled a failure.

Brr the rain is hammering down lately. just stopped raining here finally. And the above poster is right, everyone should work hard to be as good as they can. But they gotta do it carefully as theres no point pushing the body to fast too soon as if ya knacker ya bits etc badly ya get deferred and ya back at stage 1. Steady does it

Aimed at anyone in particular? Anyway ended up doing a 10km instead was well random, i'm going to be sore tomorrow.
Ok Guys, I've recently been looking at joining the forces, and I've chose REME's Aircraft Position as the one that floats my boat. Now I'm aware of the fitness tests and I've carried out the tests today and below are my results so far (haven't done all yet!)
So far, I think I'm doing pretty good especially on my run times. I know I could be fitter and I'm working on that going to the gym 3 times a week and almost daily running & also a 40 minute swim on a sunday morning.
Is there any other tips you'd like to give me on getting on with the Army? I'm 16 and 6'2 weighing in at 12 stone 6 so I have a low BMI which is a good thing. Also I'm fairly healthy and eat well balanced meals.
I am also awaiting some hopefully positive GCSE results (11 GCSE's @ A*-B Grades)

Remember to keep ya BMI at a standard, middle level. Such a thing as being underweight for the army. A few ppl here discovered that. Situps n presups are 2mins ;) Nice run time indeed matey
Make sure some of ya runs are longer distance like 3-5 miles as this builds up stamina etc.
Ya seem enthusiastic and a smart lil monkey so good luck

Yeah you sound like you've got your head screwed on tight to me mate. Just keep up the self discipline and stick to your fitness and research your job choice. As mentioned it's max press/sit ups in 2 mins, so don't stop after you max out, take a few seconds to recover. Even if you just push out an extra 10 of each, it shows effort. Good luck fella.
