Afternoon all, my first post here after reading all 30 pages of this thread :P

Picked up loads of advice, i havent got any questions atm because i have spent alot of time reading what people have said.
But i thought i would add that giving up smoking is awsome. I gave up 7 days ago when i started my fitness regime and i am so happy for it. I havent had a craven since because its good to actually being able to breath again which is more addictive then smoking
I have been able to run faster and longer for it
cheers all

I loved smoking, and on normal circumstance i would love to carry on, but now i know it is effecting my fitness so needs must ! But you wont regret it when you start to feel alive again and not coughing up crap every 20mins

I've semi given up. I can't help myself the minute I've got a beer in my hand and my fitness is getting better at the moment - so hopefully I'll be alright.
Best thing is I'm not smoking at work, and most week nights though."We shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

Re: FITNESS Qs & ADSC 1.5 mile run times- READ BEFORE ASKING
when i was smoking, after i did a run. I had to squat and cough up all the flem that has made its way up. Now, none of this coughing at all, i can stop for 5mins after 15mile on the bike and go for a 20min run now instead of taking nearly 30mins out to recover.

I was the same, give me a pint and the game was up, so I did the unthinkable lol I have had 7 pints in the past 7 months, 1 a month. But now im fine but I haven't been pissed since january so I wont know until I have finished basic how it will affect me.
Just keep at it lads and look at the money you save.
