Hats off to ya nel!! that must have taken a superhuman effort! smoking is shi!t and i wish i could have kicked it earlier, on the up shot i know i wont need to smoke during my ADSC date or on pre-selection, maybe i can use ADSC as a spring board to quit, time will tell :D

By the way anyone reading this page: ignore my post about the ador running shoes, theyre sh!te and have given me a bruised instep and ive got to do pre-selection with it tomorrow, went back and changed them for some sweet lonsdale shoes, they actually are great :D

    Edited for mong spelling

You can do it mate!!! I gave up without any patches or help, just willpower, im 23 and been smoking since i was 15, i feel so much better for doin it now.
And yeah the best thing to do is keep your mind occupied, i actually substituted fags for food, i dont put weight on easily and since ive been training any extra weight i put on from it is now gone anyway. Need a fag? have an extra portion of tea!!! :P

I did exactly the same as mike s, substituted fags for food, however I went from a respectfull 5ft 10 11.5 stone chap to 5ft 10 14.5 chap in the space of 3 months lol

But now through the training I have done and stopping the fags and food and booze, I am now back down to a respectful 12 or 12.5. But if I am honest im in better shape now then when I was 11.5 stone smoking.

I don't get the tightness in chest anymore either, and my recovery rate is spot on. This is what my recruiter was talking to me in alot of detail, being that it doesn't matter how fast you can cover several miles if at the end you are a bag of shit and unable to function properly then what use are you to anyone.

Getting recovery time down is just as important as gaining more miles.

Yeah I can't stand them now, but whats quite amusing is their isn't a dream I have had for the past 7 months that I haven't been smoking in.

I'll be honest I loved to smoke and if I knew I was one of these freaks who can smoke and hammer the fitness then I would still be doing it, although it does show will power on my behalf and better physical condition, so all worth while.
