The Royal Irish don't get more time than the Infantry..they get the same because they are Infantry. The ACA 4 (Recruiter) dealing with an applicant will tell them the time required, give them a chance to watch the ADSC DVD and then explain that in order for them to do well, and aim off for a bad day try and do the run in 10:30. Most ADSO's (selection officers) will read the ACA 4 notes and the things they look at are run time and heaves as this gives a reflection of the standard of fitness. I also know of applicants being deferred because although they passed the run time, they were deemed to be liable to struggle in Phase 1 training!!
Bottom line, listen to the Recruiting staff, they tell you things for a reason.

Im going junior entry at harrogate and i got 8:32 Pretty proud.
I think if you do a lot better in all the other tests like dynamic lift and everything else... they let you off with your run time.

You are a very lucky man to be given the opportunity at 32 to join Para Regt!

Do yourself a favour & don't mention that you failed Marines at week 6, whilst you are in training.
You'll be setting yourself up for pisstaking & ridicule, not only by the staff but the recruits too!

Don't really want to put a dampener on your attempt, but how are you going to pass P Company if you can't pass the Marine Course?

Good luck mate..........You're going to need it! :D

no run time is the biggest swinger in selection, or so my interviewing officer at selection told me

i managed a 9:41 run time which is good considering i passed selection for RE, my strength is lacking to be honest so i cant wait for basic, i completed the jerry can carry and did 9 heaves, but i hope to do better

are the fitness tests you do at the start of harrogate like the ones at ADSC?

    thanks
