Discuss ATR Pirbright Chat & Queries in Regular Soldier Recruitment on The Army Rumour Service; I didn't get the magazine on passing selection. Just use the kit list on here it's very comprehensive...

I've been in physio since, and have been doing all the cardio I can(swimming, cycling, cross trainer) excluding running, as well as lifting weights 6 days a week.

I got the green light to start running today from my physio, and I dont know whether it was my subconciouss holding back to protect my knee or what, but I found the run seriously difficult. I'm seriously stressing about whats going to happen when I get to P1 and they see my run time has gone up as much as I'm sure it has. Ive still got over 3 weeks to try and regain my fitness, but I dont know if that will be enough to get me back to anywhere near what I was? To make matters worse, I can't hammer myself as much as I would like as according to my physio, I have to ease back into the running after my injury.

What happens if you get to P1 and your run time has gotten alot worse? Will I get sent home?
i dont think so mate from what i heard u just get remedial pt if u dont meet the fitness requirements but u dont get send home and if you injure youreself in basic u go to the reha company i think until your fit again

Half of the shit they say to bring on the kitlist you either dont need, or will never use, im in week 12 and dont think ive used a single piece of equipment i bought from that kitlist so i wouldnt waste your money.

Just buy the stationary stuff, 1 pair of civvy clothes (your not going to need them til week 7 anyway), a good iron, dont bother buying civvy sports kit or gucci waterproof jackets, youll never use them.

On another note, things that are VERY useful are:

    - scotch brite (good for everything, especially cleaning your rifle)
    - plenty of zinc oxide tape
    - some gucci insoles (trust me, itll make tabbing more enjoyable )
    - 1000 mile socks (get them from millets etc. very good bits of kit for endurance runs/tabs and when you tab the brecon beacons)
    - and 1 x bag full of enthusiasm

If anyone wants any advice about the place then PM me, ill reply if I get the time to.
I was once told ''join the army air corps and be a pilot in just 3 years!''hah ... funny :D
