ahhh good ol' pirbright, to be honest guys and gals it was the best time ive had in the army. i wouldnt worry too much about it, in terms of PT the longest run you will do is a 7 mile, but it starts off as 1.5, then 2, 3, 5 then 7 leading on the final weeks, plus your CFT which in phase 1 training is only 6 miles as opposed to the 8 miles you will do at unit level. exercises are good fun, compared to the ones we had in bassingbourn a few years back, far better and more scenarios to play about with, and the final ex you will also spend time in a FOB for a night or 2 nights if your lucky with a final attack on it (good fun, we were the last patrol out, and had the privelege of attacking the FOB on our way back in as enemy
).
the staff are dead on there, a few bad eggs, but you will always get those in the army as you progress!
i liked the battlefield tour on week 5 or 6 i think it was? but im not sure if they still have them going now because of something that happened a while back with some female SUT.
keep your eyes on the goal, pass off and get the fcuk out of there, and get rid of those stupid coloured rank slides, i will promise you all its nothing like the real army, and as you go on further you get more leeway, more freedom, and you will even be calling NCOs by first name.
You can PM me if you want any info on pirbright, or middle wallop if your joining the army air corps, i can tell you about it all
Good luck to all of you going through basic, get it cracked and enjoy it as much as you can
I was once told ''join the army air corps and be a pilot in just 3 years!''hah ... funny :D

I've been waiting nearly 2 years to get back into the Army and finally have a date to join. I have to go to Pirbright, ADSC on the 2nd Sept to have a days check up to see if i'm still in tip top shape and fighting order then come back the same day. Got my Oath of Allegiance on the 6th then I'll have less than a week after that to get my kit sorted and start training for the Royal Artillery at Pirbright on the 13th Sept.

Yeah finally the waiting game is coming to an end, nervous but excited at the same time. Not too long till you join too mate.
I was in the Rifles last time i joined which was in 2008. I came out because i wanted to join the Royal Artillery, 29 Commando. I've always wanted to be in the Army Commando role, my bro is in 29 Commando at the mo and he keeps me updated on what its like so i can't wait to get stuck in. A lot more opportunities in the Royal Artillery mate.
