Alright guys!
I passed out of ATR Bassingbourn 20th aug.
Its not as hard as you might think. Infact, being mentally fit will get you through even if your physical fitness isnt up to scratch.
I got a chest infection in week 4/5 and it didnt start to go until week 12/13 - so spent most of phase 1 hacking up my lungs after everything physical.
It helped that im a stubborn bastard and refused to let it get in the way.
by the way im not saying turn up fat and lazy and pull out a 13 min 1.5 mile run - you'll look a twat
Your expected to be able to do 1.5 miles in a minimum of 10:30 and the lads who didnt certainly did by the end of phase 1.
oh and dont expect time off after phase 1 - i thought id get at least a week after pass off. I got a weekend lol
One tip though - bring cotton sports socks. Trust me, when your tabbing/on patrol it helps. I managed phase 1 blister free.
other than that good luck. Basic is the most fun ive ever had. Help each other out and dont be a selfish cunt and you'll do well.
And remember - its not punishment, its education!
Im up, He see's me, Im down!

I was having a look at the ATR Bassinbourn page on the army website. it says that at the end of week 1 you do ex icebreaker. I was just wondering what that consisted of?
