Good Luck Starr! Hope you do really well. Which selection centre do you go to?

And Amie, it all depends on what you want out of your job. What skills do you already have? What kind of personality do you have? What do you want to improve? How long are you planning on staying in the Army? What are the pros and cons of the jobs you have chosen? All questions you need to ask yourself before you make a decision.

Yeah about that time, not got a date for it. Suffering from suspected swine flu at the minute so I dont think I'll be half as fit as I should be when I go
I read a post saying you were in redditch? I am too
I'm looking at RA, either light gunner or special observer. All very glam.

    What training are you doing?
How long have you been applying / when are you applying?
What job choices are people looking at?
Biggest fear coming up to basic basic?

might give us an idea if we're 'normal' or not, and might give us a few ideas of how to prepare?
Running, running and more running but I'm not very good at it.
I'm applying once I'm 18 hopefully - mam won't let me right now...
I really want to join the Royal Artillery, I was thinking about the Intelligence Corps originally but decided I'd probably prefer the RA (but I think recruitment's closed or something? Does anyone know anything about that?).Biggest fear about applying is they'll reject me flat out or I'll be medically DQ'd :(
No thats just rumour, theres and intake 10/01/2010 for RA and another intake in April but not sure what date yet.

How long is till your 18??

If your only a few months away go to your recruiter now and ask for the application form. Speak to your folks and ask them to sigh the papers but say you wont go in till 18. That way once you do turn 18 the wait to start basic will be shorter :D
2 years until I'm 18 :( I'm begging my mam to let me in at 17 but it looks unlikey as she wants me to get my A levels...so a while to wait yet for me, oh well, I can use the time to get fitter which I need to do ASAP!
It was the same with my Dad, it took him 8 months to sign the papers and even then he kicked me out of the house :(. Just keep working on it and explain that its something that you want to do and means a lot to you. They will eventually see that its the right thing for you :D
If you can't beat them, join them!

Let me know if you get the same dates as me. It might be good to meet at the train station or something the morning of. What prep have you done for Selection?

Running and lots of, quite a few hills about so Ive been tackling them. I bought a chin up bar and I'm yet to do one, so it looks like I'll have to fish out my gym membership. Umm, Ive been on the hundred press ups and 200 sit ups plans seems to be working but I lost momentum and I'll be buggered if I can do any now.
I was told to practise my ice breaker twice a day, seven days a week, thats about it really. For the next couple of days I'm chained to my bed.
Hows about you? Sounds good if we've got the same dates, never hurts to know some friendly faces

My dad would never ever sign the papers! My mam has started to come round since I mentioned being a CMT, she just heard "medical" and not the "combat" bit I think, or I don't think she'd be even considering it what did you say to talk your dad into it??

Hi again everyone, I always post here but never have any more progress to report on! But I am definitely applying for Pharmacy Technician, I was thinking about Nursing as I got into Uni for January of next year & was going to apply after in 3 years time- but I figured I enjoy being a dispenser, and being a soldier and a dispenser in the army seems hard work but exciting and exactly what I want to do so fingers crossed.

Good luck to everyone, whether you are at Basic, applying or deciding.

How is everyones training going? I am practising the test bits & bobs alot but early morning runs are getting harder in this weather and the pitch black, but still liking it and seeing an improvement! What does everyone do except for running to keep in shape and get ready? I was thinking of joining a team to strengthen my application too!

    :) Rachie

Hey rachie, I'm a member of a Netball team, Hockey team and a Football team and the Warrant Officer that did my second interview said it was a definite string to my bow. Are you applying now or after you've been to Uni? If you go to Uni to do Nursing, did you know you can be a Student Nurse in the Army? Sorry if you already knew, just thought I'd mention it :p

I'm running 3 times a week at the moment rather, I SHOULD be running 3 times a week, it's 2 if I'm lucky at the moment...just too busy with coursework :(. Does anybody have any tips on improving sit ups and press ups?
