    Try this for pullups. Go to a gymn that has weight machines and start on the pull down exercise on a machine like this;

    http://www.gymratz.co.uk/lifefitness-fslr

Find a weight loading where you can do 3 sets of between 8 and 12 repetitions of the pull up motion with between 1-2 minutes rest between sets. Do this every other day always trying to do as many as you can. When you can do 3 sets of 15 or more increase the weight so you can only do between 8 and 12 again. Take amino acids at a meal time to help recovery.

When you can do 5 or more pull ups stop using the machine and do pull ups every other day.

    It worked for me.

That's very true LB. Just as long as you come in under 14 minutes and then shine in all the team exercises :D

What other training has everyone been doing? I've researched my job choices inside out and also practise carrying 20kg jerry cans around(sad i know)

I'm running 2 miles, 3 times a week (I'm a long way off fit enough yet!) and at the gym on the treadmill and weights twice a week :D.
Also on the 100 press ups plan, really helping me and I've always been awful at press ups.
Does anyone have tips for improving on sit ups?

And! How long before you applied did you first go to the AFCO?
I'm not sure if it's too early to go now or not... :(
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever - Lance Armstrong

Vary your sit ups, don't just do a standard one do obliques, crunches, bicycle ones etc. This helps build a good core...also...the dreaded plank helps too. Try and hold for 30 seconds - 1 minute after each set of sit ups. There is a book available called 'The Offical Army Fitness Guide' which is helping me.

I did my barb test a while ago and the careers office have told me i can pretty much choose when i want to go for selection. I am still hesitate because my fitness isn't 100% but i am going to see what dates i can get at Lichfield in early 2010.

I got told to do sit ups with my feet flat against the wall, I managed a couple before I collapsed :( I'm shockingly bad at them.

I'm not allowed to apply for another 14 months so I'm kind of just training and working on my fitness as much as I can...wishing the months away right now.

How easy has everyone found it to get their job choices?

Re: Female Chat for Basic Trg - ROBUST MOD ACTION IN FORCE

    Hi everyone!

I posted a few times back in the old thread so I guess I am re-introducing myself!. I started my application back in july but I have had a few ups and downs since then. Now I am back on track- woo!!

My career options are Intelligence, Combat Human Resources and RMP.

Anyway, I was hoping for some advice regarding fitness. Can anyone suggest the best way to get started? I've bought the army fitness book from Amazon so I'm guessing I'll find everything in there but I was hoping to get some advice from you girls if that's okay

    Thanks!!
    Stars or stones.

I found that taking a friend on my runs helps a lot, I don't take her all the time but when she does come I find I'm more motivated so you could try doing that?

Sounds good. I think my best friend would come just so he could laugh at me running
