You should be doing a warm up of 800m in around 5-6 minutes and go pretty much straight into the 1.5. Do it every other morning otherwise you'll do yourself some damage, but doing the 1.5 over and over will get tedious so try aiming for 2-3 miles at a good pace and time it every week on the same day

well i only use the running club to just mark my times, if they do the jerry can carry or intervals/circuits with us i take it as an added bonus, then i go to BMF straight afterwards anyway lol, so yeah i already use BMF,but for ages i made the mitake of thinking the intervals i use there was enough to get me round the 1.5 miles, sadly mistaken lol, ive started running regularly on my own now as well so hopefully il be seeing more improvemnts rather soon

and im joining the corp of army music, what bout you?

I would say that in theory, if you have a good base fitness, you could have a decent 1.5mile time soley through interval training. What sort of intervals you been doing?

well at the time i didnt have a good fitness base, BMF 3 times a week was my exercise, so i didnt do a lot of running, the intervals they use there are run hard for 10 sec, jog back to the line, then for 20s, 30s, 40 and then back down to 10, or theyl use hill sprints, or theres a 300m circle that they use, so we run round it fast as we can and then rest for a min and repeat, I used to really struggle with them

now im finding them quite beneficial coz like i say i run more on my own, so my training schedule atm is...

Wed, 1.5 mile best effort with army running club/ BMF
Thurs, bout 5 or 6 miles easy pace
Fri, interval training, usually fartlek over 3.5 miles
    Sat BMF
Sun, jog 3 miles easy to local high school use their track, where i do timed lap, working my way up, (am on trying to get 1200m under 6 mins)
    Mon BMF
    Tues rest,

since ive started doing this, ive noticed a massive difference in my fitness obviously and so now instead of just struggling to just keep running at BMF i can put in a decent effort on the intervals and get the proper benefit out of them, and have gone from the bottom blue to one of the top reds and ive knocked just under a minute off my time in bout 2 weeks

but if you guys have any pointers to get more out of my training let me know, Im willing to try anything lol

yeah, actually, the last couple of weeks ive been busy on sat so i didnt do bmf, and i could do all the workouts, and then this week i added in the bmf on sat and by the time i got to the sunday run i was shattered trying to keep up the pace for 1200 m but i kept at, although i did have a rest day today instead though :/ so i think i need to cut one of the workouts i think

and i rely on bmf for core and upper body work, and il usually do 10 press up/ 20 sit ups randomly throughout the day (like you do lol) and im working on my heaves, like doing negatives and things like that every other day

true lol, but there different price for different ages and park, so i only pay like £20 and can go to any session in any park, saying that theres only one park near me and it only has 3 sessions, but even so it works out a lot cheaper then any of my local gyms, and i get a better all over body workout then when i try on my own but to be honest, i found it ueful because when i first started i had no fitness at all and really benefitted from the other people around me the ptis trying to keep me going, but you can get the bmf app or even a few workouts from the internet and go down to the local park to do them.. like you say for free lol

i just really enjoy it, its alway different and the people at my local park are aesome, made some decent friends there so i dont mind paying
