Re: Were are you with your application process? - From app t
Just called my recruiter and he said I got to do Pre Selection again
@:@
I done s*** on my run time and s*** on my heaves, only 3 of them counted flopped like a fish out of water. he said he's gunna call me at the end of the month to get a date for April pretty f***ed off but oh well gives me more time to get fit, I've tried many training techniques but I need to get my run time down to sub 8 minutes so any tips would be great!

There's a difference between "not done enough" and not feeling fatigued. You don't need to be fatigued to have trained correctly, the vast majority of the time training correctly means not hitting fatigue so you can do more later on, aswell as recovering/adapting faster and keeping your nervous system tippity top.

Ah, I've just gone out.
5 sprints up hill and steps with a light 3mile ish run.
Friday will be my big run day, mon and wed dedicated to hill and that. I'm loving this warm weather that is happening right now, it's better than losing your balls running down the street haRoyal Engineers

Would you say this also applies to weight training? Been told a couple of times that training a couple of reps before failure means better results than actually hitting failure. By results i mean increase in muscle strength and size.

Re: Were are you with your application process? - From app to P1
Well there was meant to be 5 lads only 4 of us turned up so we waited a bit then our rct. sgt took us up to the room where you do your oath, theres a table with a certificate with the oath on for us there was bibles as we are godly according to the Officer. You sit down and then the Officer jsut talks to you about training and about the Oath, the best part was when he said that it's been done on and off for 800 odd years and that you are part of history / joining something historic, which does make you feel proud and in my case put me at ease that I was making the right decision. Then we were called up one by one and did our Oath after he shook our hands and welcomed us into the Army and spent a minute talking to you about your reg. job choice etc. I personally didnt take anyone, only one of the lads brought people, his 2 fit sisters and his mum. If you can bring someone with you I'd say go for it get lots of pics etc. and if you are lucky you might get a drinking mug or t-shirt ;)

As bad a copp out this might sound..........it was advice given by my recruiter to a pARA hopeful at pre-selection........... 'If you wanna know how to get fit for Paras............ask one. That one over there will do'
Theres some guys here applying for or waiting to leave for Para's so they should be able to help. Liam is one i think.....
