You've got your interview with the recruiter, and then the second with his boss, mine was with a warrant officer. It was pretty relaxed, just remember to say what he wants to hear, but don't lie or bend the truth and don't ramble on.

Good luck not that you need it :DYou don't need pants for the victory dance!

Same John, still waiting on the recruiter to say something, he said your looking at april onwards... don't get your hopes up he said, all the spaces reset on april because peoples contracts are up and they have to leave and new people have to join.

Re: Were are you with your application process? - From app to P1
One thing I was wondering, most recruiters seem to be giving the "Because of the recession, you're looking at around April to start P1..." speech. Does that mean they are cutting back intakes until then to save money? Or do they just really have THAT vast amount of applications that April seems the most likely date? All a bit vague with not much info to back it up

Re: Were are you with your application process? - From app to P1
Some time ago now a recruiter who regularly comes on here to give advice said that due to the recession the Army has seen a huge increase in the number of applicants, so training places are been loaded up at a fast rate. He also said that the with the rise in applicants the Army now has the luxury of been able to pick the cream of the crop and do not have to accept everybody that walks into the AFCO/ACIO.

Re: Were are you with your application process? - From app to P1
Um no, because of the recession (ie people with no jobs) have joined the army not because they want to, but because it was an open job in theory. So the point is, with all the influx of people, the army has to basically weed out those not suitable for the army. Its just taking longer because of the sheer amount of people joining up.

Re: Were are you with your application process? - From app to P1
Like every thing in life we are run on budgets and there is only so much money allocated to training. We are approx 100,000 fully manned and with the introduction of Veng contracts which allow old sods like me to stay in past 22 years and less people getting out the Army because of the recession there less places open as fewer soldiers are getting out. There is a massive rise in applicants at the moment so realistically the standards are the highest theyve been for a long time. All you can do is put in 100% at the ADSC and do everything the Recruiting staff/training staff and aDSOs ask of you and hope to get an A or B grade as anything else may not get you a place. Regarding more places coming available for April its because budget years are April to April so they then can allocate training places to wheres needed on the big recruiting calendar. Just do as your Recruiter tells you and you will be on the right track.

If Carlsberg made Fantasy league managers I would probably be the BEST MANAGER in the world.

Re: Were are you with your application process? - From app to P1
Hey everyone. I'm new here (obviously), but been lurking unregistered for the past few days.
I put my application in last week and have my BARB test on Tuesday, this is the 2nd time I applied the first time I broke my wrist on selection and got sent home and deffered :( (During a mess around with the lads I fell over a bag and fell awkward) and never went back (Informed AFCO) Well I'm back now and more determined to get in. I already have my job list in mind
1st: RAC: Tank Crewman (MBT)
2nd: RHA: Mounted Gunner (Kings Troop) (My older brother is there)
3rd: Infantry (Though may move this to 2nd before all is said and done)
Sadly it seems I've come at a bad time since it's going to take a while to everything to go through now it seems and well into next year before I'll get on basic I guess :(Applied: 2nd Dec 09
BARB: 15th (Scored a lousy 55)
Medical Forms: Pending
Chosen Job:
1st: Infantry (Royal Welsh)
2nd: RAC Tank Crewman

Don't see the wait as a negative, see it as a posotive, a chance to get fit as you can and prepared.
