Well according to my girlfriend (who is ex army) you only get your 50 quid a week allowance but the rest is in your bank account you just dont get out to use it.
Although if that's wrong then can someone correct it ? lol
EDIT: Although i'm more inclined to listen to IRON as he's more up to date, i take it the pay gets back dated? Why does it take 10 weeks?Last edited by Ultima; 13-07-2012 at 13:03. Reason: adding more info

It is wrong...you get around £50 a week for the first month or so in training until JPA is sorted and pay role then will go in last working friday of the month...so in many cases at least 2 months plus until your full pay goes into the bank. Thats why applicants with mortgages and debts are told they need to have sufficient savings to help them through basic training as could take 2-3 months till fully sorted...hence why on recruiters Interview/snr recruiters interview debt will be scrutinised and a Special enlistment 203 sent to be cleared by RG. The ADSO will then confirm all this in his interview....not giving full facts about debt will eventually bite you in the ARRSE when in training.

hey guys, through application i have been honest and square. told my recruiter about my finances rent etc..... no problem as my partner can move in with her parents if needed etc. i have NO debt at all i have one finance agreement and thats 11£pm. basically we have had to get a new car and its 220£pm, she is currently working and we are in a comfortable place finance wise. i have advised my recruiter about the new car and he says it should be fine, i am currently waiting for my start date to PH1, and wondered if it would cause any problems, he said its fine and shouldnt but i really dont wanna get in and kapow theyre like NOOO.
basically a few Q's (as the office is now closed) perhaps you chaps can help,
firstly will finances etc be checked at PH1? i have no problems making my payments and the mrs works etc so we arent in any Debt as such just the car finance.
while im training she will take responsibility for rent etc and i only have my pay as you go mobile. and should this fail she will move back with her parents.
like i said i didnt lie, my recruiter noted everything rent etc down and was happy with arrangments we made while im away. ive just come so far and am over the moon i dont want someone to say no, i will not have any issues paying my finances while training at all, just really scared ill be booted or will a problem only arise should debt take over my finances and get me into trouble with creditors etc?
thanks, i hope someone can de-code the waffle ive spouted its just stressed me alot

As long as this was all noted by your Recruiter and spoke about and accepted that you will have no problems the first two or three months in basic (all angles covered) then it shouldn't be an issue. However once in training if debt issues start to appear then you could be booted as you have said you have no debt problems....as I tell anyone make sure all finances are covered during your whole basic as it can take 2-3 months for JPA to sort your pay out.

me and he mrs sat down at first contact and i also said the same at interviews and ADSC we have rent etc and they went through it and they said as long as it wont affect me ill be fine, like i said i will make all my payments as i wont get something unless i know i can pay, the only dependancy for me will be the car payment and my phone bill which is peanuts, plus as i said the MRS is prepared to move back to her dads should we need, do you think ill be fine Mr IRONS? like i said itd be gut wrenching if without any issues they look and just say no

So IRON, if after telling my recruiter about my debt and if he said it sounds fine but asked me how i'll manage the first few months and i said my dad has agreed to cover finance's until the wage is sorted, that sort of thing okay?

As said previously all debt related issues are dealt with on a case by case basis and yours is a definate one that will/should be dealt with by a 203 at the interview stages and will definately be flagged up by the ADSO if you get to ADSC. If you can convince that you have no debt issues that will affect your training and once in the Army then you may be ok. You need to get everything planned out of ALL debts/expenditures and also your methods of paying these off especially that first 3-4 months of training. Bringing debt into the forces with you is an issue and applicants who have lied or not given full details during the interview stages and at ADSC have then been discharged once the extent of the problem is realised by training staff.

I understand, i'll be honest with you, if i hadn't come across this site i probably would of bullshit a wee bit, through being naive but apart from training i've been going through all my debt and checking ways to get it sorted, etc.
Being in Scotland, a trust deed seems easiest, low repayments for 3 years, then the rest is wiped. My dad has already agreed that once i'm in he'll pay it while the wage's are sorted out so thats that part sorted and when i take over, the consildated monthly repayment is the only monthly outgoing i'll have and will be easily managed, gave up stuff like a car, phone contract, insurances n the like as soon as i decided i wanted to join the army.
So hopefully it's all taken into account.
