Yes mate they are 2 completely different regiments. Have a look on army.mod.uk , thats good for reading up on the different regiments.
I see I am joining the Yorkshire Regiment
Infantry from what I can see. Does anyone
Know why its taking people wanting to join the
Rifles longer to start Basic training ??

More applicants I reckon. When I went to careers office thats the direction I got pointed in-Rifles. Also the Paras are short on numbers at the moment so they willl have a high recruitment going through selection.

The Rifles is the largest infantry regiment and one of the most popular, at present they are the only infantry regiment that is not under-manned. Thats what i was told by a Captain in the rifles anyway.

You state your preferences and they will try to accomodate them but ultimately you will be put where the Army requires you. Every two years you can request a change, I believe this is called a 'PPP'.
