You do get Training Shoes issued, you are only allowed to wear issued footwear when doing PT. If you choose to take your own they would be useful during the first couple of days whilst your kit is being issued but otherwise pretty much unused for the first 6 weeks.
i was told that you don't do as much physical training within the first 6 weeks as you have to do the pass in parade etc. On average how far do you have to run or how long? just wondering as when i go running i don't run a certain route, i run everywere and anywere lol, for about 40 minutes.

Thanks,
Ben,
If you are currently running (running that is not jogging) for forty minutes then you will have no problem with the initial level of PT. Passing in parade has nothing to do with PT, it simply marks the end of your first 6 weeks training. Your physical training will get progressively more intensive as you work your way through the 42 week course.
Hi,
My son has received his confirmation for 6th Sept. Have noticed that he will need to take an ironing board as mentioned in forum not mentioned on the kit list, got to go on the train , this will be fun.
The ironing board was on the kit list issued at the open day, but it was in the section marked "not essential". My lad decided to have one to take up after reading other messages on this forum and the Sept 2008 forum. Some JSs found the local Asda sold out of boards last year and the youngsters had to share for a while.
Anyway I'm getting all my ironing done through the summer as he gets in plenty of practice - now that can't be bad. Have had to change mode of transport on Sept 6th from train to car to accommodate the board - couldn't send the poor sole on the train with a kit bag and a metal surf board!
Well thats 42 weeks over, it's fair to say Thursdays parade was cracking, I found it refreshing to see so many well motivated, young men and women in one place, and the obvious pride they had in themselves and for each other all well deserved imo.
The only downside was the dust that got in my eyes, luckily though the weather was good and I had my shades so Dads be warned for this time next year.
Ironing boards are not essential but worth taking, a good iron is really worthwhile though it will save much time effort and heartache, over the next year, other top tips are soothbothane insoles for boots, and some good quality thermals (Helly Hanson or similar).
Be prepared for a wobble at some point or another, I think everyone has one, how you deal with it is up to you as you know your kids better than anyone else, all I can suggest is think how much time and effort they have put into getting that far and how much they wanted their place, then temper your response accordingly.
As ever I'm happy to help if and where I can, good luck to one and all. :D
you will be expected to run up to 6 miles maybe but it could be more but the furthest you will go is 8 miles as a weighted tab in pt. on exercise it could be 10 or 20 miles insertion tab so its all good fun enjoy!!!

We are travelling from Spain, so the ironing board will have to be a last minute buy, as most of the kit list, cant see ryanair letting us off exces baggage.....lol.
hi
welcome to the roller coaster ride !!!!
my son is really playing up at the moment he refuses to take an ironing board if its not on the list he refuses to take,
teenagers ! im sure he will have a rude awakening lol.
I´ll get my son to have a word with him on facebook, maybe he will convince him as he is taking one. He will not like it if he is the only one without it, and they do have alot of ironing to do, he wont want to be waiting for someone else to finish theirs first before he can borrow one.
