Re: AFC Harrogate Sept 2009 Intake
There is strictly speaking no such thing as "sports underwear". The Army means in its quaintly old fashioned way - underpants suitable for wearing during sport - specifically under shorts. As some one already suggested that means briefs or Y fronts. Boxers are fine under combats.

Speaking from experience - most soldiers want support but not constriction in that region for exercise . ;)

Re: AFC Harrogate Sept 2009 Intake
Hi folks,
Well the days are certainly moving now, looking forward to Thurday and the dreaded results. Wizz them up to the office then and then were back for his "contract"
on the 1st and oath on the 2nd.
My husband is on perment nights for three weeks so I have been using some of the time to read back over the parents forum just to gain any more info, It seems that they had all sweets and chocolate taken from them and even if it was sent in a parcel it was not given to them. For the first 6 weeks no sweets ment NONE!
If you have time to spare it is worth reading about last years first few weeks, just to prepare you for what's to come
Can anyone confirm that the passing out parade will be on the 16th October (Friday ) and they come home for that week. I know this is a long way off but it is not the school half term and I may have to book some holiday or not see him :(
Good luck for those results, be on again Thursday to hear the good news.

Suzie,
Trig confirmed that it is the 16th for passing in, as we had to book flights for it, and they do have that week after off. xx

Re: AFC Harrogate Sept 2009 Intake
Thanks Mia,
I work in the schools so I will put in for the Friday for the parade, and hubby will hopefully get some time off with him.
Where are you staying when you come over next week? Hubby couldn't get next weekend off so I'm driving son up on Saturday and coming home Sunday.

The ban on sweets is a detox to assist the js in transitioning to a high quality and healthy diet which is supplied at modest charge by the Army.

Re: AFC Harrogate Sept 2009 Intake
Hi All
He got his results today as did everyone else, more than good enough for his cap badge. I can't believe I have fathered two bright lads as my results spelt FUDGE. It must have come from my wifes side!!
His CIO have his joining instructions, I think they were holding them back until his results were confirmed,(but they have photocopied the times etc now he has given in his results) if he didn't get the results then NO HARROGATE, harsh don't you think? Maybe a different cap badge would be the answer, but of course that would be holding up others that need the place just as desperately. His Oath and contract signing is on Tuesday 1st Sept. Its then a final check of kit and a final pack.
Unforunately our town (Scunthorpe) has a funeral ceremony on thursday, cfn Lombardi is coming home, REME Died 4th August Afghan.RIP
