Re: AFC Harrogate Sept 2009 Intake

    Hi all & wfc66
I started this post a while back hopeing folks would give their input and worries about their offspring going to afc H, I read and input into another simular post aimed for parents who can chat and who have queries about all Army junior foundation colleges and basic training. Although I am new to this I will have most answers as most questions have been asked in the other post which to be honest I have always found hard to find, that is the reason why I have called this post afc H intake 2009 to get the attention of those going in in that intake.
Anyway, anyone with any questions about afc H please ask, (no matter how silly the question may seem) if I do not know the answer I will edeavour to find out.
    Cheers Xrock

XRock: If I can throw any light on anything I'm more than happy to only a week and a half to go before Himself graduates.

Worth bearing in mind is that the next year is hard work and bumps, bruises, sore feet and pulled muscles will undoubtedly happen, but for all that the PTI's and medics are spot on (or have been over the last year) as are the platoon and company staff.

When your lads and lasses get to passing in (about mid october) it's worth checking out local hotels in Harrogate town center some run suprisingly good deals.

For those of you who are Joining Up, remember that everything your asked to do has a reason, keep smiling, keep your heads up and good luck!!!

    Hi All
My son is off to AFC 6th Sept 2009 - started getting the kit so it all seems very real now.
Just wondered if anyone knew what time they were expected to arrive at Harrogate on the 6th?

    Hi Littleun
Welcome, I have copied a reply to the same question from another post, hope it helps.

When our sons went last year to AFC(H) they staggered the start times depending on how far away you lived. I think if you lived furthest away you got an after 2pm start. People who had stayed overnight in Harrogate area were in by about 1030hrs and medium distance was midday. To be honest they were not too strict what time entry you turned up for. I think they just didnt want 800 J/S and parents all in one go. We got a letter several weeks before the start date with the times on it.

    Hi lisa
Congrats on your Son getting into AFC H. they will have a steep learning curve fron the 6th onwards, not sure what the top tip on getting through afc H is but if they all stick together then all should go well.
    Keep posting

    Hi
We recieved paper work this week, parent consent forms, next of kin and contract there was a form there about starting times and you can tell them what time you think you will arrive.Choices were mid morning if you were staying in Harrogate over night, 12 onwards if you had less than 100 miles and 2pm to 3pm if you had over 100 miles to travel.
You also need to say how your get there car, train or plane.
    Hope this helps
    Suzzie
