Discuss AFC Harrogate Sept 2009 Intake at the Regular Soldier Recruitment forum within the The Army Rumour Service website; do you HAVE to take an ironing board?...
Hi Moony..
I asked about this for my daughter who is going you AFC(H) in sept also, the recruiting office said its not neccessary (but u do need one) - you can buy one at the shop on site, but I calculated that they will have limited numbers and will prob charge more than u can buy one from elsewhere. I suppose it depend on how u are travelling, it wont be much fun taking it on a train..
I got one on sat from tesco - half price £15. Hope this helps :D
Hi Angi,
No info no open day at all!! asked son to phone Chatham and find out about it but he wouldn't and I'm refusing to do it for him Haven't heard a word for the recruting office for over a month, was hoping he would have his date for his oath but his offer is based on him getting his results so we have to take results to the office on the 27th It's going to be all very last minute :(
I have got some stuff from the kit list, i'm not leaving it all for the last week. Is any one esle in this position?
Cheers
Suzzie
Hi J301
when you passed selection they should have given you a book, civillian to solder. back couple of pages is info on what to take. Very similar to xrock list but more padlocks.

Hi Folks
Just phoned grimsby CIO about Harrogate open day, (would have asked future J/S to do it but he is conserving is energy apparentley(still in bed 12.30 ) They have recentley recieved an email and have been told we are to arrive between 9&10am
As for ironing boards, I will be sending my future J/s with one, in my experience the shared boards are always in use when you want to use them, if you have your own board and iron you can do the ironing when you want and for as long as you want, there will never be a que.
Hi Suzzie,
My daughters acceptance is also based on results but we received date for oath ages ago which is the 28th Aug, day after results, am sure its the same for all but seems a bit unfair that you havnt received or heard anything - then again I think some of the recruiting officers are better than others - they are at Doncaster anyway.
Keep fingers crossed for you, hopefully everything will go as planned xx :D
Hi all
good to see new post's on this subject, My son is at Harrogate at the moment getting ready to pass out in August so i have been on the famous emotional roller coaster for nearly a full term, i would just like to say how proud i am of my son and indeed all of the JS getting ready to pass out.
So to all the new intake JS good luck and God bless And to all the parents hold on tight.
Thanks Kev, Glad to hear your js has nearly made it through, we have it all to go through, I am sure we suffer more than they do!
Cheers
Huge sigh of relief !
Spoke to the one who grunts, to find that he has spoken to Chatham this morning when they wanted to confirm his sizes ( Shoe, coller, chest and waist ) His Enrolement Sargent is not in the office at the moment, which could explain things, but at least I know he hasn't been forgotten. date for oath, 27th August :D
