Re: AFC Harrogate Sept 2009 Intake

    Hi all
So true, everything, I started the topic waiting for a few replies. i got a few and could easily keep on top of who was who and who was where.but now I am lost so will let you all get on with it and I will give my input when and if.Thanks. Our JS been phoneing, "I hate it" its Sh*t" I wanna come home. But thankfully he has aG friend that see's it our way and tells him he does not want to seem a quitter in his local town. ( there is another lad joining the infantry from here too also at AFC H) I try to get out of him what is so sh*t, it seems the boredom. Why don't you lads at AFCH take note and give them rock all for several days, then when they are on their last legs they will enjoy a sit down (and still fall asleep). I am sure they have not listened to a word because (they are kids)for weeks we have been telling them all hell will let lose.
Anyway our js seems to be slowly settling in and looking forward to a holiday wherever it is hot over Christmas believe it or not.(anyone know where that could be)
Come on AFC H get the sproggs workin

    Hi All

My Daughter is in waterloo pl3, heard from her every day, plus she talked to us more than in the last 6 months.

she seems ok and enjojing it , but the true training has not started yet. I miss my baby so much it hurts and very difficult as a father to see her leave home and becoming a grown up. thanks

Hi, Am waiting on tenderhooks for JS to call me tonight!! I received a text half hour aqo. saying will call you later!!! Which is strange he never texts to say will call you!! I am worried he has something to tell me, like I am coming home!!! Or am I reading into this too much!!! Anyone know if they have had a better day today????
I know a few have left yesterday and today!! Fingers crossed as I know he will regret it! It's too soon to give up!!

Don't panic - he maybe just wants to know you will be able to talk when he does call or maybe its really good news - he wants to tell you how he loves it
    Take care

Re: AFC Harrogate Sept 2009 Intake

    Hi tracemac
I still think they are bored, AFC H staff should keep them busy I think, my JS says they have too much time to think of home. Especially spending hours in the theatre/lecture room.
Anyway who am I to comment on modern day thinking, I went to Rock Regimnt training when it was ..............(anyway thats another story.)
I personally send him text after text during the day of how I feel, and also to keep up the encouragment/pressure to stay on until the end. wether he reads it is up to him.

    Hiya Trace and Xrock,
You both sound so down today :( Hey, come on girls. I wouldn't panic about the text saying will call later.. I really think the lads are exhausted with everything - the paperwork, the boredom etc.. And if they are feeling down, maybe they dont want us mums to hear it in their voice, and so a text or letter is better.
I felt shit until last night when I had my first phonecall; before then, I couldn't eat or sleep properley - was thinking of hitting the bottle big time!
    I'm sure they are fine
    Chins up :D

    Hi Folks,
My JS got his kit yesterday and was too busy to phone. I did get a photo this morning though OMG Proud MUM :D
I have read the post's I missed yesterday and hope I can help with some of your questionsSend usefull stuff and funny stuff in pascels NO GOODIES they will get confiscated. they are only allowed in the shop for "essentials" and they will be acompanied, so they can't buy junk. for the 1st 6 weeks they are not allowed any chocolate, sweets or fizz.

On a more serious note try not to shout about what platoon your JS is in. Stick to companies on the open forum. Private message the details. Remember walls have ears. (warning put out on parents chat)

Good luck to all lets hope they stick with it

    Yeah!!!
just had my call. All is well. They have just got back in after a fire drill. It sounds as though it was chaos. He is now sporting a new hair cut. I wish I could see it!
I think I will write him a letter tonight, apparently afew are arriving now. Hope they are all settling in. It's nearly been a week.
We all need to stay strong and keep cheering them on coz they are starting on a wonderful journey. I'm very proud.

I feel quite jealous reading some of these posts - loads of you hear from your JS's regularly - I have had a couple of texts and a 2 minute call - saying he was Ok, food Ok new mates OK - etc etc
This is so tuff not being in the middle of their lives innit

Oh well - I guess no news is good news X
