    Thanks Felix.

As I said currently leaning towards the Engineer route (this depends on how quickly the RE could put me through the All Arms P Company, a question I'll be sure to ask)

Already had my Parachute Insight Course, unfortunately due to visits to Sandhurst and Pre-RMAS at the Army School of Education they are unable to place me on a Parachute Officer Course) but I'm meeting the Royal Engineers in April and very shortly off to the School of Infantry in Warminster.

    Thanks a lot

    Easy answer. Para Regt.

If however, you want to be an officer who has a fair chance of serving with Airborne forces for a limited time, then being moved on to something completely different, then RE.

    I suspect it's the former.

From speaking to guys who've gone to either of the 2 arduous courses from the RE, you are in for a very stiff challenge. Whilst I have my own opinions on how the RE do their business, you will have to be very very fit to be selected straight from RMAS to go to either P Coy or AACC.

Also, it wasn't the OP to whom my post was directed.

It was to the person who wrote two sentences; the first of which was full of errors and the second of which didn't even make any sense. I may have written it in a sarcastic and slightly nasty manner, but I was making a serious point - AOSB involves written work.

I guess what I should do is make clear my aims. Going into the Army as an Officer my number 1, absolute must aim is

1)Pass P Coy, join Airborne Forces, wear a Maroon Beret

The number 2 aim is a bit harder as its currently split but basically the number 2 aim is actualy 2 equal aims.

2)Get up close to the front line action (Or even behind the frontline being Airborne)/Get some construction and engineering skills

Without a degree, and 3 "less than startling" A levels as AOSB put it, I do intend to pick up some skills for later life and wonder if I'll have the oppurtunity to grasp those in an infantry role with the Parachute Regiment.

Finally with regards to fitness, I'm currently using the Para fitness guide by Major Sam McGrath (about halfway through his Solder/Intermediate Spartan fitness programme) and all is going well. Current 1.5 mile after warm up 8:44 (Aiming for under 8 mins by May), 64 Press ups in 2 minutes and being strict with my technique (Aim is 80 in 2 mins by May), 59 sit ups in 2 mins (Aim is 80 in 2 mins by May). The only thing I'm particularly struggling to improve is my pull ups, but having just installed a pull up bar these should improve soon.

Also set myself some challenges for the next few months.
