If you arrive in good time, as soon as you get there (I'd recommend trying to get there asap to settle in and calm down). If you don't have time for that it's at the very end.

a couple of pointers. to make it a little easier and keep it within the rules, roll back on your feet a little so you're effectively pushing your heels back. I don't know why but this seems to help. Also fan you elbows out as much as they'll let you get away with (They'll let you know if your cheating). This will distribute some of the pressure across your chest and over the three heads of you triceps rather than solely on the tricep's medial head. If you've got time I would sketch out a progressive plan. O, and don't rely on it but you will get a little adrenalin performance boost on the day.

Just a quick question about the pre-RCB timed rune - what sort of time are they looking for?

Due to do the pre-RCB early November and, whilst I'm fit, I'm also prob bigger than your average RMAS candidate coming in at 6'6" and 17st!

The only physical tests at the Briefing are the bleep test (to level 10.2 male) and the individual assault course.

PS, that equates to 1.5 MILES in sub 10.30min

Edited to account for the wrong unit of distance

No matter how much running I do I cannot get myself to under 10 mins 30 sec for the 1.5 mile!!!

I passed the bleep test at RCB brief and recently has an assessment with the harder 15m bleep test and got to 10.6.

I ran four times a week for 4 months doing 5-8 miles then cut it to two 5-8 mile runs and two HIIT (interval training or farlek or whatever you may refer to it as) for the last two doing 1.5 mile runs at 30 second intervals of slow jog, fast jog, flat out sprint.

I still post 11 min or even 12 min times for my 1.5 mile its really soul destroying as it blatently means i'll get beasted if I get into RMAS its not as if i'm tired when i do an normal run I just cannot seem to pace myself even with a watch etc.

    anyone got any tips

Not to put too fine a point on it - the 10.30 time is for men... are you a man?
