Inguinal hernias. wikipedia will tell you what that is; it;s not pleasant.
Oh good god I wish I hadn't asked.

Thats what I thought it'd be for, but neither I nor any of my group was asked to do the cough test. You get quite a lot of info sent to you on the medical, in which it says they'll be checking for swelling.

It's part of the Regimental Selection process: if they can get their hands round them and they aren't attracted to magnets, you aren't allowed to join the Int Corps.

Don't cruise up to AOSB and throw your roach out of the window. Not a good move!

    Better than keeping it.

how through is the physical and eye exam, as I assume they have the paper work from your doctors you had to provide for briefing?
With regards the eye test if you wear glasses/contacts do they test just to see your eyesight is OK with your glasses/contacts on or is it a full test with no glasses and check prescription etc?

I was worried about the eye test but it was pretty quick and easy - they just test your eyes with your contacts in.

    Re: AOSB Medical...tests?

AOSB medical (for me at least) was the most thorough of the 3. At PCCBC they hardly checked anything - quick peak flow / eye chart / bloods and that was about it. I had sweated a bit over some comments in my medical notes, but in the end the doctor examining me didn't even look at them. I reckon if you pass AOSB medical then (assuming nothing happens to you in between) there is not too much to worry about at PCCBC.

Is having had an inguinal hernia (many, many years ago when I was about 10) and the associated corrective surgery a barrier to entry? I can't find it in the list of barred conditions, so I presume the test is to check that you're not turning up with one...
