Does the army use 15 or 20 meter shuttles? the MPS uses 15, apparently because you can then conduct the test in a squash court or something!

20 meter shuttles, done on tarmac with good grip - they don't try to make it hard. Half the board does the MSFT whilst the other does press-ups, sit-ups. Don't expect long in between the two (obviously this only applies to the briefing).

On my MSFT, I found wondering in amazement about how you could rock up to AOSB without being able to get beyond level 6 (yes, I'm afraid there was one who pulled out here), a great way of passing then time until the end of the test. It's true, doing it solo gives you more time to think about how tired you're getting. Trust me, you won't feel much like stopping in front of the rest of the board and the group leaders looking on!

It will do. The bleep test is know for being much harder when nobody is around.
i agree, when i was training for the MSFT before my board, i was really struggling to get to 10.2, i only achieved it a couple of times, however when i was on my board, i easily achieved the 10.2 required. Like people have said, its because you do it as a group, you have the competition element and you have people either side of you, so just pace yourself with them and you will be fine

    Re: AOSB bleep test

Had a crack at the beep test this morning 1st time since November now leg is back in 1 piece. 7.1 and blowing out my aris. Not impressed with myself and got 3 weeks till briefing.

Been doing loads of cycling 50+ miles but will be buggered before I get a cat 2 delay for fitness, going to give fahrtlek a shot but do you chaps know any other running tips.

    Cheers

p.s does 3 month delay mean 3 months before you can apply / send off paper work for Main board or is it 3 months until you can take main board? from what I have gleaned from these forums there is a 3+ month period between briefing and main board in any case.

It means a three month time delay until you can take Main board, good luck at Briefing.

Did the MSFT at briefing yesterday and it turns out is much easier than the 1.5mile run

Well I breezed through the Bleep test...I don't understand how I performed so badly when I did it on my own, maybe I got the distance wrong or maybe it was just a bad day, because on the actual test I nailed it and almost didn't break a sweat and absolutely caned the obstacle course.
Quite a few people dropped out, we even had one guy drop out at level 5....

I have to say that the MAP test and plan Ex were the real challenges, but all in all the briefing was good fun. I'm looking forwards to Main Board, it will be an interesting challenge.
