Re: Enlisting as an officer- the rough guide
I think still the case that most further education establishments still do ECDL, your local libray should be able to put you onto on fairly quickkly. Costs vary, and you pay have to pay towards it because you have already had money out of the lifelong earning education pot!. Shop round a bit though with anything your library throws at you, costs may vary a lot as well.
Of course you've probably got it by now or working to the first star!

Just a quick one in here as the AOSB thread seems to be locked...How long does a pass at the briefing last before you have to attempt the main board?
Many thanksDisclaimer - I'm not a qualified nurse yet, so none of what I say should be taken as medical advice. Always speak to a qualified health professional.

Depends entirely on your chosen role. If you are fortunate enough to commission from RMAS, you'll then undertake a special to-arms course such as the Platoon Commander's Battle Course (PCBC) for Infantry Subbies in Brecon, which is 3 months long. Upon completion you will be posted to your battalion, and from there await the next operational tour that your unit will undertake. This could be joining the battalion that is already in-theatre, to joining it upon its return; which would mean approximately 18 months to two years before their return to Afghan (unless they go elsewhere in between).

Main Board passes are technically valid up until you're 29 (beginning RMAS before your 29th birthday), but because of increasingly high demand for RMAS places with the recession, you are warned that you're in danger of losing your place and have to re-take Main Board if you do not book onto a CC.

Hi all;
I've just filled in my application for Regular Officer with an interest in the Undergraduate Bursary; sending it off in a week or so as an 18th present to myself... How fast do online applications get turned around? I recall seeing something about a waiting list of a month or so, or suchlike.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Does anyone know how long they are taking to process paperwork for mainboard? I sent mine in a few weeks ago, but have not heard anything as of yet. Any info?
Thanks

Hi,
I wondered if anyone could tell me what the AOSB Main Board letter you receive telling you if you passed or not, looks like?
I'm curious if a 'pass' letter looks different on the outside i.e. is thicker because they send paperwork for you to fill in, or they both look the same?
Cheers

Do you know what the requirement is if you sat the Irish Leaving Certificate instead of the British equivalent? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere else!

Hi,
I have dyslexic tendencies and my spelling is pretty poor to say the least. I'm not a stupid guy but it has always let me down and try as I have to combat it, it has never really improved a great deal. I have enough A-levels ect to meet the entry standards and will be attending my briefing in summer. Will this affect me at Westbury?
Thanks
