Re: am i good enough?
mate i did selection in febuary for the same thing, JE you going for? your run time doesnt need to be better on paper but i would suggest f*cking going for it as the interviewing officer will take a much better view of you! you dont actually do pressups and sit ups at most selection courses, instead you're going to be doing pull ups, static lifts and other such testing things. oh and a 150m jerrycan carry. good luck, hope to see you at harrogate if thats where your going!

Sorry but i have to disagree with you Wayner1970, Surely this guys best bet is The Queens Royal Hussars, His Mothers from N.I. (QRIH) and he's lived in London his whole life (Also QRIH stamping ground, odd as it was).

Bottyrag, I take your point about the rather tenuous link to Norn Irn. But with regards to Tompy Man that was quite clearly you. That and Eeeman. deny it if you dare and replace yourself where the origonal Botty Rag resided, behind the SPU.

Re: london boy...What RAC regt. to join?
Due to the troubles in NI and the subsequent lack of recruits ( due to many potential recruits joining the UDR or RUC or by being Roman Catholic deciding not to join the army) both the Queens Royal Irish Hussars & 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards were given mainland GB recruiting area's. QRIH did get a section of London ( and somewhere else as well) The Skins got Cumbria ( 14/20H loss) and Cheshire ( ex 3rd carbs area which 1 RTR expected to get)
The very last 1 RTR Gunnery Instructor at JLR RAC

Not helped by the Irish regiments being embargoed from serving in NI for fairly sensible reasons. Then when they started to fill up with non-Irish (there was a strong feeling that they were NI-dodgers), there came a point where this embargo was revoked.

QRIH was also from Sussex, an earlier amalgamation I do believe!

Only choice Household Cavalry. The Life Guards (1st choice if you can) or the Blues & Royals.
Spot of service abroad, spot of service in Town, handy for wives, girlfriends, mistresses & family if you are a Londoner.
All very convenient & of course Windsor, not too far from Town is it.Too Many Clowns, not enough Circuses

Re: london boy...What RAC regt. to join?
Wayner1970, firstly I must strenuously deny any involvement in the creation of such characters as EEMAN and TOMPYMAN. Therefore, If as you say, you had no part also, then one can only assume that it was 'shaky' who bought these strange 'people' into being. Secondly I feel I must correct you, If my memory serves me correctly, the correct stowage place for the Bottyrag, was between the Commanders seat and the CCMU, the only deviation to this was when 'Murph' tried to re-route the rattlesnake during week 2 of MM5 1995, after the incident, and much to my displeasure, the bottyrag was found next to the RBJ.
