Nope, you can join what you want, saying that a few lads in the QRL are from Manchester, one was in the local paper recently, lives round corner from me.

Re: where is my local armoured corps regiment!!!!
If you have a preference of a Regiment due to family connections etc then mention it on your interviews with the Recruiter and he'll put it on your soldier selection record. When you have your PSO interview at ADSC they will take this into account and recommend it when you go through Bovington. Most of the time though it depends which Regiments are needing manpower for ops etc just like the footprint infantry Battalions.

Re: where is my local armoured corps regiment!!!!
Your local regiment is the Kings Royal Hussars who are on Challenger 2. It does make sense to join your local unit if they meet the criteria ( challenger 2) that you are looking for. As others have said, operational reasons can result in the army deciding which regiment you go in but if you ask for your local regiment you have a much greater chance of getting what you ask for. The army still strongly believes in "recruiting area's" and a request for your local unit will have more "clout"

My bold. I concur. I recently discovered that a friend of mine is actually the younger sister of a bloke I served with in 15/19H.

He was lucky: did his knee and they offered him a medical discharge. Phew, that was a close shave.

Aha see you have posted in here, well if you dont want Recce then thats the QDG out. As you dont want a local Reg nor Recce, try the RTR, they take anyone

KRH is the regiment of choice for the cognoscenti of the A stream. Maybe you should try 13/18 or the Five n Nines.
