Or deployed in other roles which is not unusual.

I was under the impression you had the ability to choose either recce or heavy armour, if this is untrue then that's no problem with me, i also understand at the moment if a challenger 2 spn deployed they would on mastiffs or other vehicles, all i was asking was whether or not challenger 2 sqn's are deployed frequently.

Depends on what you class as frequently
Which may not be in line with what the MOD class as frequently. Also whilst you can 'pick' for a better word, you'll find that being a soldier means just that.

Re: Information on joining/Advice
Just about to turn 18 and I'm hoping to join up as a tank crewman. Being from Merseyside I take it the 1RTR is the regiment for me? Lately a few people have been giving me negative views on joining the RAC, was wondering if I'm doing the right thing?

Re: Information on joining/Advice
A lad I spoke to whos in the RAC had been in Iraq for 6 months and hadn't been near a Challenger 2 and said he just hated it in general and was transferring out. I have took on board the fact this is one person but I haven't exactly spoke to many people in the RAC.

I was at ADSC on Monday/Tuesday (going for LDs) and you don't do a TST for RAC. I believe it's only for REME, RE, RLC and Intel-Corps.

Re: Information on joining/Advice
Evening all
After convincing the wife its a good idea for me to join the army! I have put my papers in deciding i want to join KRH.
I have spoken to staff from LD, 9/12 and KRH and from the chats i've had, KRH stood out. Yes i'm aware of the crimson trousers but i think their quite dapper in their own way.
Although i have Irish heritage (the small clue being, to the left of this post)! i've ended up living in Thames Valley area and the wife don't want to move to Catterick, fair 'nuff i guess!
If any one who is currently serving or has served in last few years with KRH could PM me for a bit more info/insight i would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance and to all serving member of all cap badges stay safe and God Bless
