Slaggings we can all accept......but for me the QDG's calling 9/12L just goes against the grain.

May i remind you that the QDG's in recent years have had an ex Lancer as RSM and a HCR punter as RSM. Did they not have any quality homegrown boys or just retreds to come in and take over the lead when things looked a little bleak away from the green green gras of home?

Also the HCR lad, went to the Regiment as SSGT (or equivalent) and went on the promotion ladder as like everybody else. As regards to the Lancer I doubt if he was 9/12 as he would have been unable to meet our standards!

I had some great mates from 9th. when we transfered to KDG, still have some of em.

3/4 Lancers - I thought they had been disbanded or is that on the next strategic defence review because DRAC isn't one of yours this time? Don't worry mate - you might get transferred into a decent RAC Regiment like the cavalry or a great one like the RTR, alternatively you might be on the dole. ;)

I thought they were with the KRH 'cause of the fetching trousers they where!

Those in the KRH a leaps and bounds above the 9/12th. It takes some balls to parade yourself at ERE wearing Red Trousers expecially in a Infantry Mess in fact anywhere for that matter.

I have worked with the 9/12th and must admit they are a strange bunch, keep themelves to themselves. But they do have some good Sqn bars!!!

Ouch!! that hurt.... Yes; it is difficult to defend against the cold and honest truth that in the last thirty years QDG have had 18 RSMs and 5 have been retreads! But in their defense they all transfered over when they were either troopers or lance jacks. So in essence they had been thoroughly ehtnically cleansed. One could argue that they were drawn to a better life in the QDG. As for the HCR fellah; well he was enticed over on a whim by an extremely misguided CO at the time along with a mong of an LE from 2RTR. But in his defence he tried 'well hard' to rid himself of all 'tin' and by the time he made RSM he had (thankfully) stopped walking around with a bloody pace stick.
In these days of easier cross posting between RAC Regiments i wouldnt be at all surprised if the old days of true blue only being RSMs are over. Its been like that with Sqn Ldrs and COs for years now....
But that aside, it still changes nothing when one thinks of the 9/12th that is an overiding sense of nausea! :D
