The only thing i ever saw smoking in my turret was the wet bag charge that I had in BATUS when we opened the breach and then forgot about it until it started to send out smoke signals.

Had one or two of those but never had to remove one. Just closed up and fired again and all was well. After waiting the requisite 15 minutes of course - and before anyone accuses ME of poor drills (no - not you Geordie) I was only the loader, the decision wasn't mine.
