Re: JLR RAC
On drill once, Dave Heron called Drill Rogers (who I believe is now deceased) " Drill"!! WOII Rogers stood in front of him and said in a matter of fact tone "although I'm a WOII I allow my friends to call me Drill" he then looked Dave in the eye from a distance of half a knats knacker and yelled " but when did you join my list of friends"!!! classic!!

Re: JLR RAC
I remember practicing, or should I say, being abused on the square for pass off and hoards of hunting dogs, beagles I think, pissing all over the place and dumping every where! The Drill pigs were even bollocking them, let alone us!

Re: JLR RAC
Drill Sgt Bamforth banned his own wife from the Sgt´s mess for ´performing´,don´t know if he marched her to the guard room though.
Rodgers once marched a poor unfortunate j/tpr to the guard room without leaving the square-he just looked through the window of the assemby hall(?) and screamed and shouted,he got there after quite a few ´Mark timeeeerrrrrrrr´s.
I wonder if the drill square has been turned into a Carpark?

Re: JLR RAC
Fantastic. We had the Army Junior School of Music instead of the JLR band, so there were all sorts of uniforms on display.
With the drill shed in the background. Spent many a parade in there on show parade - 'show bed block correctly made'. Al least i didnt have to show full bedspace, correctly diusted..! Remember some first termer with bed, bedblcok and counterpain (sp?), locker and bedside table at the late show parade and then his mates helping him carry it all back to the block afterwards
Those were the days..!

Re: JLR RAC
Shame they got rid of JUNGLE LONG RANGE ROYAL AIRBORNE COMMANDOS! Fond memories of all those show parades, flying best boots and hours bumpering the guard room ceiling! Oh what a joy.
They even had me painting that bloody tank with the smallest paintbrush in the world. Good job i was there a year as i needed it to finish the job off.
Some people dont like spiders some dont like heights for me its the sound of those lights being switched on in the morning after about 1 and 1/2 hours kip haunts me to this day. Just got a shiver then!We do the same job as cav, Just better and for less money!
