    Household Cavalry

    Hi, Just a quick question. I've used the search function but not found a definitive answer. My understanding is that the queens life guard is formed by the two regiments on alternative days. My question is what is done on the alternative days when not on guard duty?

    The QLG returns in to camp around 12pm, for Troopers, there is a 50% chance you're on guard the next day (Mounting 9.50am for 10am inspection) so as Jingo says - Clean you kit! You can start after lunch about 1pm, maybe finish about 10pm. Go on the piss until 3.30am, Go to bed 4am get up 6.20am, and hey presto - It's groundhog day!

    Unless it's the Trooping / Garter / Escort (All in one 6 week period)- then it's usually a bounce of around 26 or 27 guards day on day off! (That's covers about 54 days of your life)
    It's true that gingers have no souls'. I sold mine to the Devil years ago for 4 cans of Skol, 20 Lambert & Butler's and a go on his mother when she was pissed up after her 40th Birthday bash.

    Once in a great while the first team will take a turn (such as will happen this May), and then both Regiments can stand down and watch how it's done.

    Nope not a journo. I have a potential interest in joining and couldn't find an answer online. The recruiter at my local AFCO wasn't entirely sure either, so I thought I might try here.
