Pilchards were for throwing at grunts !! We had a pilchard grenade permanently on the NBC pack for such occasions, 1x NBC glove,1x can of MINGING pilchards,2x thunderflash, lots of black nasty, They loved it on the fight through when you lobbed it off the side.
This I like, and intend to try.
Two questions
1. Will it still work with 2 of the new 'girls' thundies (reduced charge nonsense)
2. The Glove? Worn while turfing at them? Used to encase the whole IEP (Improvised Exploding Pilchards)? Used for internal body searches of stunned grunts? Which one?
1, Not sure of power in new "PC" Thundie (it probably conforms to some EU noise directive and has a six page safety data sheet and a 2 week course run by civvies- to use it) However to be on the safe side use six and make sure any safety devices are disabled so the whole thing is extremely dangerous to all users.
2. The glove is expertly filled with the GOPING B*astrd pilchards then sealed with the tape of nastiness. (For larger areas and route denial substitute NBC glove for boot and increase the Thundie volume by 10.
As an aside we did have one nastied on a cam pole on one particular FTX, it was laid on top the turret ready to place, like a bangalore torpedo,on the crew hatch of the Sqn ARV as the crew were particularly offensive, they tried a diversion and their Sunray climbed up the side of the wagon just as we traversed-- luckily for him his fall was caught by his platinum wedding ring catching on the commanders bin hasp which stopped his whole body weight as it concertina'd all the skin on his ring finger NE NAH NE NAH Bye bye .
Recce Mech.
Now what about making childish fake turds out of mixed fruit pudding and leaving them in peoples flip flops in Batus ? Or was that just me? :D
Talking of "oatmeal blocks"....Tesco's do packets of them(well sell them).Made by "the oatland biscuit company" and are labelled "Oaties".Same hardness and taste...mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I've never had the opportunity to prove this until this thread popped along - but I distinctly remember a time when we were issued tubular tins of cigarettes (7 per tin) in the ration packs.
No one under 35 ever believes me ...but I'm sure it did happen!?!
As for proof: I've still got four of the 'drums' knocking about in my med-pack (alas, I gave them up a long time ago and now smell of old man wee!)
Arabic Rollos (with the slightly old speckling on them) & the 'spangels' that were welded together - long nights in the hide just raced by attempting to extract one without paper attached to it.
AND thats the weird thing - white and pasty Rolos just seemed to taste better, sitting in steaming plastic waterproofs, drinking a brew in the pissing rain.
:D I guessed that was the remains of an escape tin/med kit. Individual tubes of condensed milk !! I knew people that just sucked the tube FFS . Arguing who got the 5th bar of chocolate ? forgetting to cover the top of a red hot tin of peas with a spunky J cloth in the turret,in the dark and getting scalding pea juice full in the face . Just how long can a compo thread go on for??
