    Wow. You have some issues.

Issues? Issues with morons and sweeping generalisations most definitely, reasoned and well-informed debate no issues whatsoever. Bit like anyone else on this site really.

And finally how refreshing to see a thread with the RAF Regt mentioned, & no derogatory remarks made.
Our MERT is the envy of even the US, MERT can administer immediate like no other so it's interesting you should question it. It's been around for a minimum of 5 years in it's current form to my knowledge.

As for your derogatory input about TA personnel, get a life you moron, These guys are the bees knees and they give up their professional careers to give the best possible service to the lads on the ground, you really have a problem with this?

Having been out 10 years, all I know is what I read or see on TV, so I ask the Q to them that know, how long did it take to get MERT to where it is today. Your assumption that I have been derogatory to any TA or Aux personnel is unfounded, my point was intended to highlight the fact that HMF's medical services have been scaled down, reduced in number to point where we are having to use them. I accept the fact that all and any members of our part time RAF, Army, & RN are trained to the same standard, & are professionals in there field. Am I wrong to think that we should have a full time highly trained & capable medical service in all 3 branches of HMF's?

What is this mysterious 'HMF' of which you speak? I've never seen that written anywhere so that's a first.

How long has it taken MERT to get to this point? About as long as the campaign has been running so let's say it all kicked off in 2005, that'll be six years then. As for the TA, we've always used them, even more so now that we're in a steady state with commitment to ops. We're all one Army now you know.

Having been in longer than the ten years you've been out I'm curious to know why you think the DMS has been scaled down, reduced and al the rest of it. As far as I'm aware, we still have the same set up as we did before (less RHH) and the same people so you're completely wrong on that count.

How do you define a 'minor conflict'? Do you mean OUP/ELLAMY? That could be considered a minor conflict but we were completely capable of fielding med sp without 'relying on the TA'.

Frankly, and I'm more than irritated by your line of stupid questioning, you need to brush up on what's going in Defence if you want to have ay credibility on this website. Jeremy Kyle doesn't count and I don't know what other programmes you've been watching but you are so badly misinformed it's almost embarrassing. You sound like a third-rate hack from the Grimsby Bugle trying to get his first break with a hard-hitting scoop.

Quite frankly, yes - you are wrong........... there is a requirment for a capability based on what we commit too. Having mirror capability across the three services is expensive (in a time of financial constraint) and to be honest we cannot continue to function as three separate providers of health care (at any level). Watch the news more and get with the programme..............you are way out of date.

In the case of battle casualties, is it possible for us to co-operate with our American allies? Is the US hospital in Germany a suitable alternative, and possibly a shorter journey for serious injuries.

Why would we need to use Landstuhl?
