Yes, we do this as well, but only if they have expressed an interest in becomming doctors. Even if you get one that goes on to train, or realises it's not for them, I guess it's worth the buggerance factor of those two weeks.
I like you, you remind me of me when I was young and foolish.

I'll try the hospital first and see what happens.
I can see it now, in a decade ARRSE will be full of young thrusters who will be complaining about all the old farts who go on about HERRICK, lurk in the office, "enable" stuff and how it's got fuck all to do with what's going on now.

You'll need the CRB check from the individual PMG (parent management group - normally the hospital trust or PCT). NHS is not/not allowed to accept CRB checks carried out by others (even neighbouring hospitals). It's an absolute shambles! Only DoH can change the relevant rules, and despite every professional body requesting that a check for one competent NHS body should be valid across whole NHS, there's been sod all progress (though a selection of fine words).

In practice, this means that for example, a Great Ormond Street surgeon can no longer travel to, say, Surrey to carry out an operation - the critically ill child has to be moved. It really is that bad! So factor in time for the NHS to get the check done.

Btw, the Preston-based medical regiment has moved to Catterick. You nearest might be 207? 208? on Merseyside.

    Good luck!

Hope your in no hurry for a CRB check via the NHS. A newly employed member of my dept had to wait nearly two months for hers as the trust would not pay for a priority check and she had been on a student placement in our dept during her training.

That must be down to bad admin at your trust. The normal time for an enhanced CRB check is no more than 6 weeks.

Errrrr no - the normal time is actually 8-10 weekd if it is done properly (working with children and vulnerable adults).
"This will teach you" said the Headmaster, as he thrashed all three of us for bunking off..............."Brilliant, I thought, the education system failed to teach us and now the catholics are having a go"!!!!!!!!!!!

8-10 weeks my ass. You only need an enhanced CRB check and that will cover everything. How can it be done properly, there's one way of doing it.

How long will it take to get the results of my CRB check?

The CRB aims to process 90% of Standard checks in 10 days and 90% of Enhanced checks in 4 weeks If you have the application reference number then you can click here to use our online tracking service

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

    Mr D,

If you have real experience of this then fine, that is your experience.......... I do too and all of these take 8-10 weeks to clear through Glasgow, Liverpool and then York. Now calm down and have a cup of tea, there's a good chap...........

You will note that is says CRB aims............. to process?????

Did you run it through your unit to get a CRB check done? I got my CRB done through the NHS since I work there.

I don't normally drink tea. I prefer a few pints instead. First rounds on me fella
